a fruitful weekend in sunny san diego <3

surrounded by mountains, warm sand, soft yet rageful waters. food created in dance, prayer, and ritual. the giggles, talk medicine, crying and releasing followed by a jolt of inspiration, remembrance of wisdom + power. sunshine on our breasts and bare bodies, playing with fire (literally & figuratively). all the tinctures, teas, and nibbling on those darn apricot seeds (iykyk). sipping on bubbly and celebrating this life, our gifts, and eachother.

also attending @bakunawamarket and meeting artists, healers, and overall kapwa in the flesh was amazing. got to finally try @kaphemuna ‘s biko matcha latte topped with asin tibuok which was a absolute non-negotiable and it was everything and more. also humbly got to meet and chat with one of my favorite artists, @acaballz and purchased some of her art in person. made spell jars with native philippine plantcestors, got my first aura reading, and had the opportunity to vend my ritual apothecary (thanks again liza <3)

showing the girls old stomping grounds in carlsbad also brought so much joy to my heart.

a much needed & truly a magical (and very eartherealistá coded if i do say so myself) time 🌺

northern nights x dirty bird realllyyy tested me this year LOL. the heat pushed me into medical bc i was so overwhelmed and overstimulated. i felt my privacy invaded bc my shit would be moved around without my permission. my shoes were stolen 🤷‍♀️ i experienced a new level of hangry and exhaustion. i didn’t want to exert my energy towards being upset, then i finally let myself blow up, literally screaming into a pillow and afterwards… i felt absolutely nothing HAHAH. never have i felt the phrase “no thoughts, head empty” so seriously. this festival has always pushed me beyond my limits and challenged me emotionally every single year… yet it will always be home and my favorite place to be every summer. it’s hard to be so upset when we’re surrounded by the redwoods and the beautiful river.

important takeaways:

1. having a home base that feels private and personal should be my main priority at festivals. and BOUNDARIES with neighbors.

2. overhydrating does happen. a girl gotta eat too.

3. nothing is ever really worth wasting so much energy being upset over. (i have neverrrr felt the level of idgaf/idc in my life and it felt pretty good tbh)

4. not only should i take care of my body mindfully, i deserve to celebrate it too.

5. i do have the strength to let things go. i have grown so much in my self-worth actualization than i give myself credit for. and i deserve to be respected.

6. i can be too kind. and for future experiences i must save that kindness to care for myself.

7. i should always protect my energy and space.

8. it’s vital to have community that makes me feel safe and seen. (specifically, my maganda morena girlies!!!!)

i ended the week by going into the river by myself and having the “mulan moment” i needed. saying what/ who i needed to release to continue my journey with less weight on my shoulders (literally and symbolically) … i cut off a few inches of my hair and watched it float away in the river. thank you to the Eel River and Humboldt redwoods for always healing me and receiving my offer to give back to the land.

hope yall had Dirty Nights 😌
