POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Chasing the pros at a HYROX race never gets old. Sprinting lane to lane, trying to stay a step ahead of people who make a sled push look easy, and nailing the shot before they’re gone. It’s chaos and I love it.

But here’s the thing.

I love shooting everybody. The first-timer who almost didn’t sign up. The doubles team dragging each other through the last wall balls. The person who finished in 2+ hours and gave every single second of it.

It doesn’t matter what your time was. If you had the guts to step out there and empty the tank, you deserve content that shows it.

Swipe through 20 of my favorites from the weekend 🤘🏼

Weekend Recap 💪🏽

Some big results at the top of the rankings and some big jumps further down too.

No idea why the female number rankings are messed up.

Race Plan: Repeated & Reinforced

HYROX Tampa Recap ➡️

📸 @shelbyefoley

It’s been eye opening just how recklessly the field will attack Run 1

I’m willing to drift a little bit beyond my sub-threshold run pace (~3:35-3:40/km), and towards my LT2 (~3:25-3:28/km) on Run 1 when the body is fresh, but not by much (2-5sec/km)

At the ski, I’ve become confident at a pace that I can manage in pure erg interval sessions with 6:1 work to rest - and repeat

Pulled steadily but within range (3:53, 8th/418), leaving me very available to establish my run splits for the day on Run 2

The sleds can be hit and miss, and you’ve gotta be prepared to chip away with whatever conditions you get

Worked steadily through the Sled Push (2:24, 12th/418), not knowing the leaders had created a bit of a gap, but remaining available to attack my strengths remained the priority

Into the Pull, I’d latched onto @richryan610 who generously decided to give @roxmaxxing and I a 20sec cushion with a brief course navigation mishap - Unc just wants to battle..

The Sled Pull has become a relative strength of mine, and a station where I feel I can close the gap on the leaders without taking too much damage

By training sleds primarily below race weight, I’ve been able to develop my work rate

By implementing TRX Sled Drags into my extended Tempo Conditioning sessions, and at the end of my Lower Body Strength days, I’ve seemingly developed fatigue resistance in the quads that allows me to maintain that work rate

With my best Sled Pull to date (2:55, 2nd/418), I’d closed the gap entirely and left for Run 4 in a battle for the lead

By the burpees, you tend to have a pretty honest assessment of what kind of day you’re going to have

Rich and I hit the floor at the same time, and he turned on the jets

Focus remained on communicating early with my judge to establish movement standards were being met, to establish a steady work rate and to continue breathing through a pretty demanding station

After being gapped by ~15sec, I figured I was fading but ended up dropping my best BBJ split to date (2:11, 2nd/418)

Breathing gets heavy on Run 5 and effort felt a bit more laboured than in Toronto

The PRO men in their 20s that finished behind him are already calling 40+ athlete @richryan610 “Unc”. An early mistake cost him valuable seconds but he still walked away with a sub 55 win in Tampa.
