A splendid experience recently at the reborn Sam’s Italian Restaurant. The pizza is the same, but better! And the veal parm is already among my favorite in the city. Also, a pleasure to drink the last of Lou’s house red plonk! Congratulations to @georgiaevefulton and all the team. We’ll be back soon!

The neon is LIT again! Last night was a successful F&F to usher in Sam’s 2.0! The pizza is as bubbly as ever, the clams as clammy, the parm pounded thin and tender. And as modeled by the lovely and talented @robbyhnelson, they still have the Montepulciano (although there is now a real wine list, and it’s not crazy expensive either).

It was an impressive first night! Big mazel on the opening tonight. @georgiaevefulton and team have done a smashing job sprucing up the old joint without sloughing off too much of its old New Yawk red sauce joint charm. And you can sit at the bar (with Georgia’s amazing playlists) now!

Sigh. Here’s a throwback to a neighborhood place we adored: Leyenda on Smith Street in Boerum (Cobble?) Hill, Brooklyn.
This sleek cantina hit on all cylinders — excellent cocktails, great food, a terrific vibe and a talented, welcoming staff.
We absolutely loved our visits, and I feel lucky we crossed paths with this special place during our years in Brooklyn.

Rest is important and essential, but to lead the life you likely want now (and for the long run!), staying active is incredibly important. But that doesn't mean you have to live at the gym. Do your friends think you talk about VO2 max too much? Or perhaps you have no idea what VO2 max is (and don’t particularly care)? Knowing your number or understanding cardiac output and mitochondrial function isn’t important. But being able to perform the activities you love (and need) to do easily, both now and for the long run, is important.
