WHAT IS CEILIDH-oke?

You tell us! If you were there, we want to know about it…

All we know is that it was bloody good fun! And these are the magic ingredients.

✅ Ceilidh dancing

✅ Mass-aoke

✅ Banging soundtrack

✅ Serious amounts of laughter

But now the big question… shall we do it all again?

Next Monday, May 4th, Bank Holiday, starting at 6 pm, we are very proud to be hosting a wonderful documentary about the first Italian woman to be a film director, Elvira Notari.

The film explores her story and the reasons why we don't know much about her.

It's a special screening because the director and producer will be there with us in person!
They're travelling to England to promote the film, under the patronage of the Italian Cultural Institute.

We are very much looking forward to hosting director Valerio Ciriaci and producer Antonella Di Nocera in Exeter!

It will be a very special event, as both Valerio and Antonella will be with us to introduce the film and they will stay, together with Professor Danielle Hipkins and Dr Alessia Risi for the Q&A to follow the film, hosted by Valentina Todino (Italian Cultural Association Exeter).

The event starts at 6pm with a brief introduction by the director, the film length is 90 minutes. The Q&A will follow. It will end by 8.30 at the latest.

It will be a great event and we can't wait!

Book soon to avoid disappointment as we normally sold out!!!

All the information is available at the link in bio and on the poster.

And this time, 'è da non perdere', it’s not to be missed!!

Special price for Italian Cultural Association Exeter friends, as always!

Fun, satirical and a pastiche of the chaotic, brash, self-deprecating and clueless 1990s/2000s British reality TV, TOPS sees self-proclaimed future award winning filmmaker Ames Pennington present their landmark faux-documentary. Casting themselves as an invasive TV presenter, Ames goes on a satirical odyssey through the lives and homes of four unique individuals, exploring the crucial question that defines transmasc experience, “What TOP did you want to wear after TOP surgery?”.

Stick around after the screening for a Q&A with Ames, hosted by Jaye Hudson from T Girls on Film.

GHOST WORLD (15) + Comics & Records Session
📅 Fri 19 Sep 2025 | 🕗 8PM
@dollysfilmclub @exeterphoenix @claire_studio74_exeterphoenix

An absolute stone-cold cult classic! Thora Birch & Scarlett Johansson star in Terry Zwigoff’s brilliantly cynical coming-of-age gem, based on Daniel Clowes’ graphic novel. Expect apathy, eccentric jazz fans (hi, Steve Buscemi 👀), and a sharp look at friendship, growing up, and drifting apart.

💿 Before the film: join us in the Secret Garden for comic book & sketchbook time, tunes from Robyn, and your very own DFC mini-zine. Bring your own comics or sketchbooks, or dive into ours.

👗 Fancy dress / thematic looks are encouraged (with prizes up for grabs) — think comics, cult vibes, or green hair dye!

🎟️ Tickets: £9 | £7 Members | £5 Students & Under 25s
