This summer, 22 interns joined Degenkolb Engineers and Ruby+Associates, a Degenkolb Company, bringing their curiosity, perspectives, and growing engineering expertise to offices across the firm.

Over the course of the summer, they worked alongside our teams on everything from seismic evaluation and structural design to construction engineering, drafting, analysis, and tool development—putting what they’ve learned in the classroom into practice on real projects.

Now, we’re turning the spotlight over to them.

Meet our 2026 summer interns and hear, in their own words, what brought them to Degenkolb and Ruby, what they worked on, and what they’re taking away from the experience.

There's no place like SMPS Amplify A|E|C 2026! 🌈✨

Our Marketing & Business Development team had an incredible week in Las Vegas connecting with AEC professionals from across the country, gaining fresh insights through educational sessions, exchanging ideas with peers, and building new relationships along the way.

The conference's "There's No Place Like SMPS" theme brought plenty of fun to the experience—from Wizard of Oz-inspired events to memorable networking opportunities. We were also thrilled to celebrate our own Michelle McCulloch (@mccullochm) who earned her Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) designation and was recognized during the conference. Congratulations, Michelle, on this well-deserved achievement! 👏

And, of course, one of the biggest highlights was spending time with the adoptable rescue puppies, who quickly became conference favorites (though we're sorry to report that Toto wasn't looking for a new home). 🐶

Thank you to SMPS—Society for Marketing Professional Services for bringing together such an inspiring community of marketers, business developers, and industry leaders. While we've traded the Las Vegas Strip for our home offices, we're returning with fresh ideas, new connections, and renewed inspiration to better serve our clients, colleagues, and communities. #AmplifyAEC #SMPS #EveryConnectionMatters #AECMarketing

A little friendly rivalry—and a lot of engineering pride! ⚽🥅

This Saturday, Norway and England face off at Hard Rock Stadium for the 2026 FIFA World Cup—and we asked two of our own who they'll be cheering for.

Jorn Halle, Degenkolb's Chief Client Officer, was born in Norway and will be proudly rooting for his home team.

Jennie Kenhard, our Human Resources Director, hails from England and will be backing the Three Lions all the way.

No matter who takes home the win, we're especially excited to see the match played in a stadium with a connection to our firm.

Before Ruby+Associates, a Degenkolb Company, joined the Degenkolb family, our structural engineers helped bring Hard Rock Stadium's iconic 14-acre shade canopy to life—an innovative retrofit that transformed the fan experience while preserving the existing stadium below.

As fans from around the world gather in Miami Gardens, Florida, we're proud to have played a part in creating a venue that's ready for the world's biggest stage—keeping players and fans safe, shaded, and ready for an unforgettable match.

So... who are you rooting for this weekend?

Design for what’s possible.

Street Plans designed @northcoastyard in Cleveland as a flexible public space- one that could grow and adapt. Last month it did exactly that when the U.S. Navy commissioned the USS Cleveland there, drawing thousands to the lakefront.

As we continue to shapeshift this vital public space, new opportunities emerge. The latest is the Legacy Lookout, a rooftop deck on top of a shipping container with front row views of Lake Erie and the city’s skyline. A small addition with a big presence.

Thank you to the USS Cleveland Legacy Foundation, North Coast Collective, Manns Cans and Ruby+Associates for making this happen!

Recently, something special happened at Central High School and Durfee Elementary Middle School.

Engineers. Lawyers. Chefs. Accountants. Construction leaders. And every single one of them showed up ready to invest in our students.

Career Vision Day 2026 was exactly what it was designed to be. A room full of possibility. Students who walked in unsure walking out with a direction. That's educational mobility in action.

The results spoke for themselves. Students asking sharp questions. Making connections. Leaving with a clearer picture of their future. One student said it best: meeting these professionals gave her insight into what she will be doing after school.

This is educational mobility. This is our E3M model at work. And this is what it looks like when a community decides that Detroit's next generation deserves real opportunities, and we're committed to building them.

🙌Deep gratitude to every career partner who invested their time in Detroit's future workforce.

👉Follow @liferemodeled to see how we're building pathways for Detroit's next generation.
