“Telling a story to a world of storytellers is a daunting task. As a photographer I have spent the majority of my career behind the lens, channeling emotion into my work. Stepping in front of the camera and sharing my inner world, some of my hardest moments, and the enduring thread through all of it, feels vulnerable in a completely new way.

Part of this story is the first time I have shared it with anyone, my own family included. But to share something meaningful you have to sit with it in its truest form. To share it any other way would be an injustice to the lived experience.

What remains true is this: If this story connects with even one person, if it moves someone to see the beauty in the small moments, to pick up a camera and explore their own creativity, then that is what matters.

Happy World Photography Day. ✨

// The art of photography changed my life, although I never set out to be just one thing. I want to be a person who is curious and who notices, who lets the medium follow the subject wherever it leads. To me, holding a camera in my hands is my way of belonging to a time, a place, a moment of light that will only happen once.

Thank you for being on this journey with me. It remains one of the greatest honours of my life to witness this planet and share its beauty.

We hosted our very first workshop with @leicastorebellevue and the new SL3-P, a day about movement, slow art, and creating with intention. @ryan_field_

When @kyliesheaxo opened the session with “my first language is dance,” I knew the feeling well, because I’ve witnessed her move from that deeper place. It’s a quality in her artistry I admire deeply. Leaving nothing on the table, giving everything you have. At one point during the day, the song was perfect, the emotion pouring out of Kylie was so moving that a few of us had tears rolling down our cheeks. That is the beauty of art. Of collaboration.

Had a hard time picking between photos 3/4… so posted both. Overall, I felt like some of these photos were some of my best photos… maybe not perfect, but I dig on the IRL feel.

The Ballerina…

Thank you @ryan_field_ @melissafindley @kyliesheafoto @leicastorebellevue for this fun event to highlight the new SL3-P.

I plan on having a couple more posts from this shoot, but here is an introduction with some of my favorite photos from the session.

The SL3-P is a dope camera and I’m excited to get one! That being said… I had recently acquired a Q3 43 and wanted to see how it fares in this type of studio environment. So all photos in this series will be with the lil Q343 guilty spark😎

I had a lot of fun experimenting with my new camera and trying different things throughout the event, so expect some mixed vibes and styles. Was very cool having a no pressure have fun and experiment shoot like this… 10/10 would do again… though it was a bit crowded and more observant, than connecting/collaborating/creating with an artist… if that makes sense.

Anyhow, enjoy the photos … more to follow with different styles

The SL3-P. What a power house, almost forgot how it was like having autofocus after shooting full manual for a while. Immediately switched to the Leica looks high contrast monochrome mode and tuned it. SOOC JPEGs, just rotation and crop. Thanks @leicastorebellevue for hosting this walk, @ryan_field_ and @melissafindley for inspiring us!
