Don’t love your job? Keep telling yourself - “I’ll be happy when...” ? Life not quite lighting you up in the way you’d hoped? Well, this is for you: Welcome to Episode 35 of The Much Better You Podcast - Take a Break, Be Bored, Retire Early! #themuchbetteryoupodcast #themuchbetteryoubook #drromanogiorgi #retireearly #bebored @romanogiorgi75 @buzzsprout In this episode, we discuss why the productivity trap can be so devastating, how a simpler life is better (and cheaper) than you may think, why bucket lists are shite, and why flexibility and optionality is critical given that best-laid plans so often don’t work out as expected e.g. “once I retire, I will...(insert unlikely dream here)” There’s just too much cool stuff to mention here! This episode may well get you to seriously reflect on - and maybe even reconsider - your current life plans. This is dedicated to Veronica ❤️

The author Matt Haig beautifully reminds us: “You are not the clouds. You are the sky.” Well, I’d like to take that one step further. You’re not just the sky. You’re the whole bloody universe. ... The carbon in your body was forged inside ancient stars. The oxygen you breathe has travelled billions of years to reach you. The very atoms that make you are the same ancient ingredients that make planets, galaxies, and everything you’ve ever known. Some will look at the universe and feel insignificant - like the atoms of a microscopic speck clinging to the milky way’s rear end. I look at it and think... I belong. So do you. ... Because you are not separate from the universe. You are the universe... temporarily arranged as you. This way of thinking has helped me enormously whenever low mood has tried to convince me otherwise. I explore this idea - and many others - in Episode 33 of The Much Better You podcast: Up Yours, Depression (link below). If you’re struggling, or know someone who is, I hope it helps 😊 https://lnkd.in/eMgjigD9 #themuchbetteryoupodcast #themuchbetteryoubook #drromanogiorgi #depression #selfhelp @themuchbetteryou @romanogiorgi75 @buzzsprout

Welcome to EPISODE 34 of The Much Better You - podcast: Trauma Does Not Define You ... “Telling someone with trauma to ‘just get over it’ is about as useful as shouting ‘Calm down!’ at a fire...” ... We’ve all got baggage, peeps. Some of us just insist on bringing it into every room. Trauma is real. It hurts. It changes people. But here’s the mic drop question... Does it get to decide who you become? In this episode I explore why trauma isn’t just about wars, abuse or catastrophe. Sometimes it’s the teacher who humiliated you. The relationship that betrayed you. The panic attack that taught your brain to fear fear itself. We’ll look at why some people develop PTSD, why others experience post-traumatic growth, why your brain isn’t broken (it’s trying to protect you), and the science behind approaches like EMDR and memory reconsolidation. No toxic positivity. No “just get over it.” Just one simple idea: Your past may explain you. It doesn’t have to define you. @themuchbetteryou #themuchbetteryoupodcast #themuchbetteryou #themuchbetteryoubook #drromanogiorgi #trauma @buzzsprout @romanogiorgi75

*DIY FYI* comedy duos 4/5: Selam Amare & Sabina Westrup! They sound like sisters but they could be mother and daughter. Ok not quite but Sabina is old enough to be Selam’s mother. And this is where the fun starts: multi-lingual, intergenerational, both have a passion for running. Speaking of running, poor Selam thinks she’s running out of time to find herself a husband but according to Sabina, settling down is VERY overrated. She has learnt the hard way. Come see them on 5th July at Piehouse co-op in Deptford. Event details in my bio and @diy_fyi. I love these two and so excited to see them. Come for comedy and stay for live jazz and DJ sets afterwards. Selam is an Ethiopian comedian and TimeOUT x Nando’s Extra Hot Comedy Club Competition winner sharing hilarious UK life stories. Sabina is a writer, actor, and stand-up comedian and winner of a BBC Writersroom competition.

We’ve been here since November, you’ve wandered past whilst getting your 18th pint of Stella. You’ve wondered what all the fuss is about. You exclaimed; ‘bloody comedy!’ a few times in resentment that your favourite part of the bar is always taken on Mondays. Well, now’s your chance to give us a try. We got a seat reserved for you. Now’s the time to make it right. If you’re listening, dad. I did this all for you. I took a comedy gig to your favourite pub just so you’d talk to me. Come down, let’s make amends. Also, tomorrow we got Ed Kear headlining and he’s fantastic. You’ll like him. Joining Ed is a collection of cooky scoundrels! We got Dillon Harris, Daniel Tizon, Nicky G, James Abernethy, Michael Frank, Mat Smith, Sabina Westrup, Michael McCool and of course our mc; the amazing Brooke Hoerr! Why not reserve a ticket for a mere 5 quiddles on eventbrite..? https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/craic-up-comedy-monday-mayhem-tickets-1989238712538?aff=oddtdtcreator&utm_id=97757_v0_s00_e0_tv0 #whatsonwatford
