POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Last week, we came together for Beyond Bars: The Power of a Song to raise funds and awareness for this transformative Prison Art program. We’re grateful to everyone who joined us, shared their talents, and helped shine a light on the power of music, creativity and connection.

It’s not too late to make a difference! Your generosity helps bring songwriting workshops and creative opportunities to men at Walton Correctional Institution. Through original songs, participants are finding their voices, sharing their stories, and discovering a path toward healing and personal growth.

Help us keep these vital creative programs growing! Learn more about how your support makes a lasting impact and donate today at culturalartsalliance.com/donate. 💙🎶

Songs of Safety, feature no. 2: Sammi Accola-Sous + Beyond Bars, “One Gloomy Donut.”

This song was written by @sammiaccola and songwriting students at the Walton Correctional Institution in Florida. Through the prison outreach program, Beyond Bars, Sammi was able to bring songwriting and her personal conviction of ministry to incarcerated individuals, providing an outlet for creativity and self-expression. By the end of the writing process, shouting and dancing accompanied the lyrics of the song as the group adopted it as their custom, in-house moshpit song of choice!

Life and Finding You In It✨ EP is OUT !!!

I wrote the title track “Life and Finding You In It” with my amazingly talented friend @kel_taylor_ after our planned write turned into a “sharing our life stories” hang haha. Through this conversation we were reminded that God was actually showing himself all along in the most ordinary of moments. We ended up writing this song about just that & I think that’s what most of walking with Jesus is anyways - finding Him in the beauty & simplicity of even the most normal-seeming life. This pretty much summarizes the whole EP!

I’m so incredibly thankful for all the friends that were a part of this special project 🤍 I hope these songs can be a reminder of just how close Jesus is and how there is so much hope!

And a HUGE thank you to @puremosaicservices & @integratedmusicrights for distribution !!!

We loved celebrating what’s new at @q_lemontree last night along with owners Suzy & Jim Accola, family, friends, and community members in Grayton Beach, Florida! The ambience was perfect, with music by @sammiaccola and delicious bites from @nui_thaikitchen. The design studio has undergone a transformation and is home to gorgeous tile, lighting, jewelry, Turkish robes and towels, gifts, and a @redstone_custombuilders kitchen showcase! Be sure to stop by to see it all and chat with the team about your next design project!

September recap!

Wrapping up the sabbatical from church work on the second week of September and then FULL steam ahead with Americanafest and SWERFA! I think we’re finally through that lingering summer heat and I couldn’t be happier, but I did really enjoy all of the time to work on new hobbies and read a lot of books. It did me good.

What made your September special?

I know that a sabbatical is not the norm for 25 year old and with that, I am so very thankful for a church community that gave me 6 weeks to seek after things to take care of myself after a hard year. Here are some of the things that poured into my cup. Although I’m still making sense of my lessons learned and gifts received during my time away

-get out of town and take lots of drives. There are some plot lines and stories that it’s good to put some physical distance between. You’ll be surprised at how helpful that can be
-ask questions when things don’t go according to plan. I’m trying to look at life as more invitations lately. For example, I wonder what I’m being invited into with Connor going to the hospital during my time of sabbatical? what is there for me to consider or receive?
-try something new! It’s so good to let yourself be bad at something. Let’s normalize trying new things even if we might look a little silly doing it. I want to bring more of that into my daily life

Maybe take this is a sign to pursue some intentional rest during your day off or even just say yes to some true rest like reading a book or picking up a new hobby, rather than scrolling...which feels counterintuitive...me sharing this thought on this app. Nonetheless. give it a try!

Meet CAA Member Artist Sammi Accola 👋

Music should befriend. That’s the motto of Americana, Crossover singer-songwriter Sammi Accola — 24-year-old local to Seaside, Florida and artist based in Nashville, Tennessee. A force for good—writing songs inspired by the healing work of Thistle Farms, a nonprofit supporting women survivors of human trafficking, abuse, and addiction—I believe all stories have value and deserve to be heard. This past year, I partnered with the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County to teach songwriting to inmates through the Beyond Bars program and absolutely loved it.

In March of 2024, I opened for Thomas Rhett in Watersound Beach, Florida (a dream come true). I've performed at the 30A Songwriters Festival for the past four years, at the Opelika Songwriters Festival in 2024, Moon Crush in 2022 (opening for Lake Street Dive, Caamp, and Brandi Carlile) & was a finalist for the Red Lodge Songwriter’s Festival in June.

In 2023, I formed a 10-piece, all-female band and played Belmont University's all-genre “Best of the Best” showcase, making history as the first all-female band. In 2022, I was nominated as a Nissan & Bose influencer for the Belmont Artist Spotlight program and won the contest!

Next year, I’m releasing my debut album “A Candle On A Busy Street” from which I raised $27,000 on Kickstarter to support this cinematic, gritty, incredibly honest, and bold record.
