A R M B A L A N C I N G 🤲 being able to do an arm balance in your yoga practice is by no way the goal. It also doesn’t equal an ‘advanced yoga practice’. But it is a neat way to witness the progressions with your physical practice.

In a normal class, while we’ll have every intention, we don’t always get the chance to break down an arm balance in the fullest form. So carving out some dedicated time for all the inversions is the best way to advance into your arm balances. It’s also damn a fun way to spend Ilan afternoon!

From crow pose to headstands and anything you’re keen to work on, Sarah Safavi will be your biggest fan as you have a crack lifting 1, 2 or 10 toes of the ground.

Arm Balancing Workshop
with Sarah Safavi
Sunday 24th May, 1-3pm
$45

Don’t be shy with sharing a what you’d like to work on when you book! This workshop is designed for you!

Stick around after for a juicy Vinyasa Flow to put all your hard work into practice! x

This group, what a bunch of gems 🩵

300hr post-grad YTT immersion in Sri Lanka done. I’ve sat with it and let it all sink in a little. Back to regular programming, but also, not so much…something’s shifted.

This yoga teacher training hit different, good different, much deeper than I expected. Beliefs expanded, perspectives evolved, more awareness of all of the things.

Our teachers held and guided us so beautifully to a place where we could look inward, observe and discover our own inherent wisdom.

Challenging? Oooh yes, but we peeled ourselves open, allowed space to receive what our teachers were sharing… Truth and yoga as a pathway to discover what’s already known, everything just as it is in present moment awareness. Big stuff.

Will my in-studio yoga teaching feel wildly different? Maybe, maybe not. But I know I feel a little different so let’s see what happens.

I’m so grateful for Nicky, Ash, Flo and allll those who came on this wild ride with me. Your willingness to dive in was awesome, your support was so comforting. Bring on mentoring, let’s take this out of the bubble and into the “real” world.

Big love,
Emma 🩵

300hr YTT complete. This course wasn’t about the physical practice as we know it and teach. It delved into the history, philosophy, meditation and self enquiry of yoga — the juicy stuff of this wise and complex system.

The content, new friends, nasal/energetic cleansing (pictured hehe), ocean and pool dips, vegan food and stacks of tropical fruit made the long days of focus in Sri Lanka possible.

Final pic from my meditation and philosophy workshop. Here I’m guiding the group through an eyes open meditation 👁️

Not pictured, me using the magic of Yoga Nidra on my breaks to catch up on rest.

Thank you to my brilliant teachers @another_yogi + @ashbrown.meditation

I did my 300 Hour YTT and this is what I learned✨✨✨

Training began in Melbourne in what honestly felt like a tornado 🌪️of movement, emotion, learning and change. I arrived with expectations and ideas of what it might be — but the truth is I had no real understanding of what was waiting for me.

There were moments that felt confronting, exhausting and uncertain… 🤨 and moments that felt expansive, joyful and deeply connected. There were laughs, there were tears, and there was growth I could never have planned for.

At some point it became clear that this journey wasn’t really about teaching as much as I thought. I was here to reconnect — to fall back in love with the practice, with MYSELF, and with the life unfolding around me. The lessons went far beyond the mat, and deeper than I ever expected 🫣🤯

What I feel most now is gratitude. Deep gratitude for the guidance of @another_yogi , @ashbrown.meditation and @florencekellyyogaandmeditation — and even deeper gratitude for the beautiful humans I shared this experience with. Learning together, being supported, being challenged, being seen… this is something I will carry with me.

What’s next? I’m still figuring that out. And for now, trusting the not-knowing feels like part of the practice too. 🫶🏻🌊🧞‍♂️

300 hours. 300 moments. 1 second at a time.

What started as something that felt so familiar slowly unfolded into something entirely new.

This journey through my 300hr post-graduate yoga teacher training wasn’t just about refining asana or learning techniques — it was a deep dive into history, philosophy, and the powerful wisdom of the schools of Yoga. It challenged what I thought I knew, softened what I held onto, and expanded how I see both Yoga and my Self.

There were moments of clarity, moments of that broke me, and moments that felt like coming home — all at once.

And the truth is… this is just the beginning.

I haven’t “arrived” anywhere — I was and am already there. The work is, continuing to uncover something the realness, and stripping it all back.

Grateful for every teacher, every lesson, every pause, and every breath that brought me here.

More to come. Always.

🌵🧡✨ M E E T S A R A H ✨🧡🌵
If you’ve been in the studio lately, chances are you’ve already had the pleasure of practicing with Sarah - a familiar face who has been such a wonderful support while covering classes over the past few months.

We’re so excited to officially welcome her to the SlowLane teaching team for regular classes - you’re in for a real treat!

Originally drawn to yoga as a gentle way to move after injury, Sarah quickly fell in love with the practice for the emotional and mental grounding it offers. With further training in Yin, Nidra and meditation, her classes blend dynamic, creative movement with moments of steadiness and softness - always inviting you to find joy, balance, and presence on your mat (and beyond) ✨🙌🏼✨

You can catch Sarah each week for:
🧡 Tuesday 9:30am Vinyasa Flow
🌵 Friday 7am Sunrise Flow

We’re so lucky to have her in the SlowLane and are thrilled to welcome her to the dream team 🫶🏼
