TONIGHT AT 6:30 PM 🫶🏽✨

These are the artists showing in the UCLA Kerckhoff Art Gallery until the first of March! Tonight we will have an opening event with artist and 2024 Frieze Los Angeles Impact Prize recipient Gary Tyler to speak to the community, along with other spoken word courtesy of @theword_onwednesdays .

Gary Tyler (in addition to second slide), after wrongfully serving 42 years in prison, has given back to the community in many ways, a few include through his use of art to further social justice and as an outreach social worker for the youth. We are honored to have him at our event and in our presence🫶🏽

Jordan Fobbs @shatteredprisms is a social-political collage artist who recently took part in the @kolajmagazine art residency Politics In Collage and man am I excited to share their work! Jordan Fobbs is a Black queer non-binary artist from the Bay Area. They currently live in Santa Barbara, CA where they attend UCSB, majoring in Black Studies and Sociology, with a minor in Art. Fobbs has been an artist all their life, but only began to take their art seriously once they got to college. After a long hiatus, Fobbs began their current practice in 2019, fueled by the culture shock of their environment. Experiencing anti-Blackness, as well as new revelations with their gender identity, urged Fobbs to use their voice, not only through student leadership, but through art as well. In Fobbs’ art practice, they cut portions of faces (historical/political figures, celebrities, or even themselves) and collage them to create entirely new subjects. The intention is to illustrate something in common among the individuals depicted, to imply a shared struggle, cause, or ideology, emphasizing the actions of the collective rather than the individual. These figures are a simulacrum of ideas, systems, and movements, meant to be critiqued and refigured through viewership.
This first piece is one of theirs before the residency and the second is their final project from the residency itself.

It's been such a fucking whirlwind of a week. The fires and pandemic really hit close to home. I've been writing, healing, singing, musicing, yogaing, breathing, breathing, breathing. I'm much safer now thank goodness. I'm not in survival mode anymore, for now. Stay safe out there, plenty of resources in my story highlights 💜

The Peter Pan Foundation proudly presents:

“A Movement, Not A Moment”

We hope you will join us tomorrow night at 7pm PST to be part of this inspiring show, where members of the Black/African community will raise their voices and hearts while our audience is given the opportunity to listen, learn, and support.

This show, directed by PPFers Kisakye Naiga & Leticia Bennett, will be an incredible evening of amplifying black artistry & black businesses. We hope that this show, the second in our summer series, will also serve as a reminder to all that this movement is not just a fleeting moment, and that we must continue to always be in support of the black community.

We are honored to be featuring such beautiful talent and passion in our show, and it has been an honor to showcase the performances, businesses, and artistry of this talented cast, leading up to tonight.

This is a movement, not just a moment. And it’s going to take all of us to truly change the world. ❤️

Black Lives Matter.
