POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

"Go West" Exhibition at the Dairy Arts Center closed at the end of June. It was special that the exhibition fell in the middle of AAPI Heritage month and ended in Pride Month. While my Chinese American, trans and queer identities stay with me every month of the year, it was a sweet timing that came about.
I'd like to thank everyone who supported this exhibition and my work whether it was virtually or in person. Time taken to spend your energy, thoughts and consideration means more than you know, especially with something as sensitive and vulnerable as art.
This is a snippet from the artist talk held at the @dairyarts June 10th. The video is 47min. long. So I'll be posting a link to watch the full video.

grateful for another beautiful day #inthegarden with my students from @materialinstitute’s #CultivatorResidency 🌱 we had inspiring presentations from @asc3nsion_art @geaux_brioniclaire and @shenlestudio, planned and built #fabricplanter #containergardens, and had a sweet treat of #vegan #persimmon + #cacao pudding after another delicious lunch from @earthseedfood! our time together this semester is drawing to a close, but i have a feeling our time as a community of growers + artists is just beginning ✨

In her debut exhibition, Jones amplifies and calls to interpretation the embodiment of Black culture, pride, and society's attachment to status. Jones work is centered around anti-status and breaking the barriers placed upon identities or the pressure to claim one versus many. The unique choice and use of materials speak to the juxtaposition of one’s expectations and reality. There is no such thing as discarded items with Jones, everything has a purpose. With no studio space of her own, Jones invites us to - quite literally and physically - immerse ourselves in a visit during a visit of her own at Axiom.

I've had the pleasure of watching Jones's craft evolve across time and disciplines and I'm excited to share in the curation of her work.

Can we all take a moment and admire how beautiful this craftsmanship is!? Custom made my Callie’s brother and partner. They were driven down all the way from New Orleans. So grateful to have this addition in the salon. It truly makes it feel complete and they’re so roomy! Love supporting small businesses! This one hits differently though! Thank you🫶🥹

Anyone in the New Orleans area, contact @shenlestudio for any custom made items
