The Downieville Classic is anything but your average race. 🚵

It’s legendary trails, river bike jumps, the infamous log pull, swimming holes, live music, and a mountain-town festival all rolled into one unforgettable event.

From August 6th–9th, riders and spectators come together in Downieville for four days of adventure, community, and unforgettable memories. It’s a weekend with people who know how to show up, cheer each other on, and have a good time.

Every registration supports Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship and the SBTS Pro Trail Crew, helping keep these iconic trails ready for the next ride.

And if you’re good enough, you just might earn the title of 2026 Log Pull Champion 🏆 — and everyone can take home a coveted Klean Kanteen Pint Cup.

I moved to the Eastern Sierra in 2000. As an avid climber, skier, and mountain biker, I wanted to live where I played, and the Eastside is the mecca for outdoor recreation. After traveling the world over the last 25y years, I continue to return to this incredible place with gratitude and admiration - it is truly the most amazing region in the world.

While the landscape is what brought me here, the people are why I stayed. Friends turned to chosen family. We gathered and built community - a truly amazing group of humans who care for one another, and this incredible place.

Over the years, my friend @ken_etzel and I lamented about how other places we visited to recreate were better organized and setup for recreation than the Eastside. They got it. They saw the value of their landscapes. They built infrastructure and systems that support and steward in ways that protect the places from being loved to death - while also leveraging them for economic growth and community benefit.

For the last 10 years Ken and I have shared a vision for what could be possible in this incredible place we call home. A little over a year ago, I had the opportunity to legitimately start a conversation for what that could look like while serving as the County Administrative Officer for @exploreinyocounty. Though I left Inyo last September, an incredible team of folks have continued to focus on developing a regional recreation collaborative.

Over the last couple of days, more than 75 thought leaders gathered in Bishop, CA to share, learn, collaborate, and celebrate - all surrounding the goal of furthering this initiative. I am grateful to be able to continue to engage in this important work - now from the perspective of the private sector as a Community Manager for Arc’teryx.

Extremely grateful to @arcteryx for recognizing the importance of these efforts, the immeasurable value of community, and a strong desire to contribute funding and other resources in support.

This is about our home. This is about our future. This is about our legacy.

One of my favorite things about riding in the basin is that you get to meet some pretty incredible people hiking the PCT. Today we met @matusiak.aleksander and @solene_blq from Poland and France. They are on day 74 with 1200 miles complete. They still have a few months to go! I’m always so impressed by these hikers!! They were so nice and were asking great questions about Brian’s bike and he was more than happy to share the details! These photos were taken at the top of the infamous Gold Rim Trail that is the last section of climbing before you descend all the way down to Downieville in the @downievilleclassic. We were sharing all the awesome trails that @sierratrails has put in.
I’m hoping to be able to race the classic this year as it’s my favorite race EVER!! We shall see what my body can handle.

Take me back 🫶🌲 Downieville for the 4th of July is my favorite annual tradition. No cell service, bikes, dogs, and friends.

PS Moto sounds are proven to improve performance on the bike 👌😜
