9 years ago this morning, I woke up surrounded by beauty knowing I'd get to run down the aisle to the love of my life! That day, our day, is still my very favorite day and the day that our life as wife and wife began! We've been through just about everything you can the past 9 years, and every single day I've been grateful that it's you that I'm doing life with. You make it fun, and exciting. You make every day purposeful and keep me wanting to show up the best version of me because you just make me better. I'm so lucky to get to love you and to feel your love, the universe would be a better place if everyone knew how life feels with their soulmate ♠️

I'm madly in love with you, every single part of you and every single day! I think my favorite part is that I still genuinely like you, I like spending all the small moments just existing with you, my best friend. How lucky are we? A sleepover every night with the person who resets your soul and who you can laugh with until you cry. Countless inside jokes, explorations, and lazy days, for forever and always!

Happy Anniversary my love! 9 years married, almost 11 years together, and infinity to go. In each lifetime 🤴🏽

WORD OF THE WEEK: SAFETY 🛡️

At the end of our Kids Jiu-Jitsu classes, we take a few minutes to sit together and talk about our Word of the Week.

It may look like a simple conversation, but these moments can plant lessons that stay with a child for life. ❤️

This week, our word is SAFETY — on and off the mats.

We talked with our kids about being aware of their surroundings, staying close to their parents in public places, recognizing situations that don’t feel right, and understanding why they should never go anywhere with or trust a stranger simply because that person seems friendly.

Jiu-Jitsu gives children tools to protect themselves physically, but self-defense starts long before a confrontation happens. It starts with awareness, good decisions, confidence, and knowing when to ask for help.

We’re not only teaching Jiu-Jitsu. We’re helping raise confident, aware, respectful, and prepared kids. 🥋

Because some of the most important lessons we teach happen when the training stops and the conversation begins.

🥋 SELF-DEFENSE STARTS BEFORE THE FIGHT.
⚠️(SAVE AND SHARE THIS REEL)

During our Friends & Family Class last Saturday, Professor Marcos introduced our 4 Steps of Self-Defense: AACC — a simple framework that kids and adults can remember when facing a potentially dangerous situation.

👀 A — AWARENESS
Pay attention to your surroundings. Recognize potential danger before it becomes a threat.

🚶 A — AVOIDANCE
If you can safely walk away, create distance, or avoid the situation altogether — do it. The best fight is the one you don’t have to fight.

🥋 C — CONFRONTATION
If avoidance is no longer possible and you must protect yourself, be prepared to react decisively using effective self-defense skills.

📢 C — CALL FOR HELP
Get to safety, alert a trusted adult, authority, or emergency services, and make sure the situation is reported.

Awareness → Avoidance → Confrontation → Call for Help.

At Rilion Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Littleton, we believe real self-defense isn’t about teaching people to fight — it’s about giving kids and adults the awareness, confidence, judgment, and skills to stay safe.

That’s Jiu-Jitsu for life. 💪

🥋 Welcome to the Team, Coach Steph! 🥋

We’re excited to announce another great addition to the Rilion Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Littleton family!

Please join us in welcoming Stephanie Skinner, who will be helping coach our Kids and Women’s Programs.

Stephanie brings over 16 years of experience competing and coaching in combat sports and is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Purple Belt 💜 She has competed professionally in MMA for Invicta FC and Fury FC, and has also fought professionally under the Glory Kickboxing banner.

Beyond her impressive combat sports background, Steph is passionate about health, fitness, and empowering others through martial arts. When she’s not on the mats, you can find her paddleboarding Colorado’s waters, hiking in the mountains, or playing semi-pro tackle football.

💬 Personal Mantra:”The comfort zone is the great enemy of courage and confidence.”

💬 Her Why:”I believe everyone should do something that empowers them, makes them feel confident, and also gives them the ability to protect and defend themselves if ever needed.”

We are proud to have Coach Steph as part of our growing team and can’t wait for our students to learn from her experience, energy, and passion for martial arts.

Welcome aboard, Steph! OSS! 👊

Today, 36 years ago, the love of my life was born! If you know her, then you know she's the hardest working human you've ever met. You know she's dedicated, she's driven, she's stubborn and she pushes you to be the best version of yourself! You know she believes in what's right and always does what she says she is going to do and that you're better just because you have her in your corner.

But I know she also listens to girly music and sings in the shower. She loves sour candy and burgers. She loves long drives to no where. She loves bad reality TV, Disney movies and Call of Duty and when we can be lazy, she's the laziest with me. She encourages me to chase down Natzis and she never backs down to what is right. She is the funniest human I know but also hates to be uncomfortable in any way at all 😂

My love, this year has been hard, not gonna sugar coat that. You had two surgeries, a year of recovery, Dr appts, PT, countless times you could have quit or felt sorry for yourself but you never did! You kept going and loved me SO HARD through everything, you are coming out of this year bigger and badder than you went in and this trip around the sun is set up to be the best yet! I fucking love you, head over heels in love with your sexy ass and I'm so lucky to love and be loved by you!

Happy Birthday to you! You make the world better, you make me better and I hope your day is as perfect as you ♠️❤️🤴🏽

Today is my favorite day of the year! It's the day we vowed our love in front of family and friends, danced under the stars, and started this incredible part of our journey ♠️

8 years married, almost a decade together and my love grows more for you every day! I love evolving with you, adventuring, life-ing, laughing, loving with you! I love coming home to your face, to feeling your love, to just doom scroll next to you on the couch. This year has been filled with bumps but hitting them together almost makes the stress fun instead of heavy. It's given us time together and time to daydream about our future ✨️ I'm excited to grow old with you, to keep exploring to crush our goals and to seeing where this road takes us!

Thank you for loving me so good and supporting me in everything I do! You encourage me just by loving me the way I am. You've never wanted me to change a thing and for that I'll be forever grateful ♠️

I love you so much, my handsome spade and I'll keep loving you unconditionally in every life! Happy Anniversary to us!!

And just like that, he's a Sophomore!

He's the best kid, kind, funny, empathic. Each year he keeps maturing into an even better human, who I genuinely enjoy being around. This chapter of parenthood is my favorite, even though it is also so heavy with emotions, watching him go through this journey is just so rewarding!

Have the best year dude! Keep being you, make good choices and we will be here if you need the lift up!
