It was great to see my company, Equine MediRecord, featured in a recent piece by Startups.com on the entrepreneurs building the next generation of horse racing technology companies.

The article provides some great background on why I started Equine MediRecord alongside my brother, Finlay Dargan, and Simon Hillary, as well as the work we’re doing to improve equine welfare outcomes through technology.

Our goal is to make a meaningful difference to equine welfare around the world through our equine welfare platform, helping organisations use better data and technology to support better outcomes for horses.

It’s fantastic to see the progress being made across the industry and to be part of a growing community using technology to address some of the key challenges facing horse racing and the wider equine sector.

One of the biggest misconceptions I see about AI is that it’s simply going to replace jobs.

The reality is more nuanced.

The @worldeconomicforum projects that 92 million roles will be displaced by 2030, but it also projects 170 million new roles will be created. That’s a net gain of 78 million jobs.

The challenge is that the people losing jobs won’t automatically have the skills needed for the jobs being created.

What gives me optimism is what I’m seeing on the ground with founders across Latin America & the Caribbean at @foundingcaribbean.

People who would have needed a technical co-founder a year ago are building prototypes themselves. Teams of two or three are accomplishing what once required an entire product team. Entrepreneurs are testing ideas faster and cheaper than ever before.

@jonnystartup, Co-Founder & CEO of @founding, calls this “The Great Reinvention”, and I think that’s exactly what we’re living through.

When billions of people suddenly have access to tools that can turn ideas into reality, new industries, new companies, and entirely new forms of work emerge.

The question isn’t whether AI will change the future of work. It already is.

The question is whether we’re helping enough people develop the AI fluency needed to participate in what’s being created.

That’s one of the most important opportunities, and responsibilities, for ecosystem builders, educators, investors, and founders right now.
