All smiles at the beginning of the run… definitely not how it ended. 😂

I’ve been dealing with some tightness in my left calf for the past few months. It would get better, then flare up again depending on what I was doing, but nothing that really stopped me.

Today that changed. I pushed off with my left leg, felt a very distinct “pop,” and immediately realized I couldn’t put any weight on it. Not exactly the way we planned on finishing the run!

A trip to the Wooster ER later and the diagnosis is a ruptured left plantaris muscle. I’ll need some follow-up to figure out the extent of the tear and what recovery looks like, but for now it’s crutches and an unexpected break from running.

Kicked off my bday at the lake wilderness triathlon racing with friends, got lots of time w family and friends, even got my own @chelsweets bday cake! feeling incredibly grateful for all the love and amazing people I have in my life! 38 was truly an incredible year, but I’ll do my best to make 39 even better 🥰😊

Lake Sammamish half marathon!
I love this race! Not just because it’s such a fast course 😉 But because of all the friends who show up! It was so good to enjoy so many miles with friends as well as all the ones who showed up to cheer 🎉 Bonus seeing my family at the finish line! Ryan even gave me a flower right before I crossed the finish line 🥰💐
