🎄Matter Xmas Edition 🎄 We’re closing out the year the only way we know how: with another edition of our iconic Xmas party. On Christmas night, 25th December, we return to ΙΛΙΟΝ plus gig space, putting its pumpy, bass-heavy soundsystem to full use and locking in a properly festive mood. We’ve curated a special lineup featuring some of our favourite local DJs for an intimate dancefloor experience. A long-time friend and constant source of inspiration, Runner, best known for his legendary “Shuffle” series, joins us for the first time to bring years of UK scene knowledge straight to the floor. The night is completed by our residents alongside some of our favourite guests, with two special back-to-back sets adding extra spice: Saber Rider b2b A.square and Pink.wav b2b Andreas Palmer. Δεν θα λέγαμε, ωστόσο, ότι υπήρξε μία και μόνο συγκεκριμένη αφορμή για την επιλογή αυτού του τίτλου. Μάλλον πρόκειται για βιβλίο που συγκεντρώνει πολλά από τα χαρακτηριστικά που αναζητούμε στα έργα τα οποία θα θέλαμε να δούμε να εκδίδονται στα ελληνικά. [...] Όπως ίσως διαφαίνεται, πρόκειται για βιβλία που, αν και δεν είναι τυπικά μυθοπλαστικά, φέρουν εξαιρετικό λογοτεχνικό ενδιαφέρον. everything must change. Radical Intelligence. Saloniki 9 Save the date : public opening October 31, 2025 9th Thessaloniki Biennial of Contemporary Art. curated by yours truly with kindred spirits in the wish to explore "everything must change" . Biennale 9 echoes a common(place) yet recurrent, urgent, and fragile, plural and widely co-opted demand / slogan. It simultaneously subjects this slogan to the rigours of critique or better stated, to the practice of attending to what is emerging, to the care of witnessing, interpretation, accountability to the precision required in order for a change fair for all to be imagined and realized. Subjecting it to anger, fears, awe and anxiety, love and beefs between cities and people. The exhibition points at the ways that the same phrase can be wielded by social revolutionaries and techno-fascists alike, by persecuted activists and authoritarian demagogues, by rival social classes and diametrically opposed collective forms of expression. In other words, it asks: amidst a world that often feels suffocatingly predetermined, compliant, entrenched, un-free, possessed, how can we reclaim the right to wander into complexity, the right to refuse, the joy of resistance, the choice of life over mere survival? What is the radical intelligence that ever, persistently creates everyday routes of escape to the insurgent ground of love? A central inspiration is the rather untranslatable concept of “waywardness”, articulated by theorist and writer Saidiya Hartman in Wayward Lives, Beautiful Experiments: Intimate Histories of Social Upheaval, where Hartman reconstructs the “terrible beauty” of oppressed and marginalised black lives in early 20th-century New York. As she writes, “A revolution in a minor key unfolded in the city and young black women were the vehicle”, while forms of solidarity and love emerged outside conventions and the law. Biennale 9 is organized by MOMus-Museum of Contemporary Art under the direction of Thouli Misirloglou the Biennale is co-organised with TIF-Helexpo, in partnership with the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the Thessaloniki Film Festival. It brings the art collection of The American College of Greece into dialogue with contemporary artists from Greece and abroad. Projections of desire, the form of the Medusa, citations and comparisons, sedimentation, the nexus of life and death. Merrill’s last poetry collection of the same name lends the exhibition its title, imposing its underlying leitmotifs. The Forest's Riddle is coming to the end and on Friday the 9th art thinks with the forest. Artists, curators, theorists, food-gatherers go through their own practice in order to meet forests of life, of struggles, of death and survival.We are very happy to be hosting the first presentation of 'Forest Mind' by Ursula Biemann in Greece. Located in the Amazonian forests of Colombia, this video-essay unites diverse strands of knowledge on the intelligence of plants, on plant-human relationships, and the coding of life in its form of storing and releasing information. Drawing on scientific as well as shamanic perspectives of engaging with the world, it takes a biocentric worldview in search for the intelligence of nature. The video locates itself at the convergence of these scientific and colonial histories in view of decolonizing indigenous knowledge and bringing it into a common reading with modern science. Speakers of the day also are: Nikos Arvanitis, Adrianos Efthymiadis, Emile Maigyte, Malvina Panagiotidi, Studio Precarity and yours truly. While Vegan Academy ,with Dimitra Maglara and Andreas Piperis, will be feeding us forest goods. Mε ποια γλώσσα σκέφτονται τα δάση? Οι λογοτέχνες, συγγραφείς, ποιητές, μεταφραστές και δημοσιογράφοι , που συμμετέχουν στη δεύτερη συνάντηση του Δημόσιου Προγράμματος με τίτλο, “Το αίνιγμα του Δάσους και η γλώσσα” θα ανιχνεύσουν τα όρια της ανθρώπινης γλώσσας όταν σκέφτεται και αναπαριστά το δάσος, μεταφέροντας προσωπικές εμπειρίες τους από τη συμβολική και πραγματική ζωή του δάσους. Θα αναφερθούν ενίοτε στη σχέση τους με τον Τάσο Βρεττό @tassosvrettos και το έργο του, θα μοιραστούν ιστορίες, γνώσεις και μνήμες που έχουν συλλέξει στα πλαίσια της συγγραφικής τους δραστηριότητας.
