Some places don’t just show art — they build people.

Gen X: Tales from the Forgotten Generation at @destefoundation . Walking through these rooms feels like walking through a formative chapter: DESTE has a way of shaping the eye and the aesthetics of everyone who has passed through it, worked within it, grown alongside it — always in dialogue with the vision of a collector like Dakis Joannou.
Roberto Cuoghi. The unsettling installations of Andro Wekua. Pawel Althamer’s fragile, human figures. Paul Chan’s charged drawings. Sean Landers’ restless, confessional handwriting spilling across the canvas. Works revisited again and again over the years — and somehow the collection always arrives fresh, made anew. That is its quiet magic.
The feeling is nostalgic and deeply positive at once. Nostalgic in the way one strolls through work and a place long loved. Positive in the way it keeps opening up, keeps giving.
Seeing this exhibition at this particular moment feels like walking through life itself — the same path, taken different ways. The ascetic curatorial gesture, so distinctly Dakis Joannou’s, is a lesson in itself: abundance lived through restraint, experienced with all the senses.

Most designers give us objects to look at. Poul Henningsen gave us something harder to see and impossible to ignore: the quality of the light in the room. Before him, the electric bulb was a small act of violence — a naked, glaring point of brightness. He spent his life on a single obsessive question: how do you light a space without ever letting the eye fall on the source? From the gold-medal Paris Lamp of 1925 to the sculptural Artichoke, the everyday PH 5, and the lyrical Snowball for @louispoulsen , his answer was always the same. The bulb, hidden. The glare, gone. Only the glow remaining. ✨

Tsakonian Weavings 🌀

In Tyros, Arcadia, weaving and Tsakonian cultural heritage become one and the same. In the post-war years, the knowledge of Angeliki Papadia spread among the women of the village; together they explored traditional motifs, but also moments of personal expression. The craft then passed to Thomai and, in the latest generation of weavers, to Elisavet Rodopoulou, who today leads the way in our line of tradition.
With a generous smile, in their workshop you’ll stand before the distinctive upright looms — for here the weaving is done with the fingers. You’ll learn the technique, follow the footsteps of the motifs, and weave your own: geometric designs, flowers, figures in traditional dress, or more abstract compositions. The woolen threads are dyed with natural pigments over a cotton warp, and so the rugs are woven in one piece, free to unfold into grand dimensions.
Together with them you’ll relive stories of women’s solidarity and forge new bonds in their intensive classes.

things I do with gurls 25–75 when we go out: ✨

- attend the Tuesday tea sessions at the Λύκειο των Ελληνίδων (Lyceum Club of Greek Women), where tradition is still very much alive — lectures, embroidery, and women who have been holding it down since 1911
- spill the tea on a proper setup ☕
-Tracing Olga. The frames are keeping their secrets for now.
- make things together — with our hands, with our heads, with each other.
- search for higher tops — because there is always another summit, and we are always going ↑
- explore wildlife in the city: sculptures of Natali Mela, living rent-free in Athens corners.
- shout out our Christos Delidimos (@chrisdelidimos), showing at Benaki Museum / Pireos 138 in What You Wear Is What You Are — go see it, it’s on until May 24.🚨

Not a catalogue of objects, but an account of a total environment. 🌀

Inside Eileen Gray’s E-1027, every piece of furniture—whether the fluid Rivoli table or the stubborn NonConformist chair—was a precise response to how a body moves, rests, reads, and thinks. Gray understood what her contemporaries often missed: that geometric rigor and human warmth can inhabit the very same room.

🏺 Greek craft has its own prize now, and the work more than justifies it. The inaugural Nóema Craft Prize closes today at the former Public Tobacco Factory, where 15 makers reworked clay, marble, wool, wire, and salvaged materials into pieces that hold tradition and reinvention in the same hand. A dowry carrying eighty-six years of silence. Caryatids reimagined. A felted meteor born from war.

👑 Today the jury names one winner and two special mentions, but the exhibition itself is the real argument for why this matters. Open until 9pm.
