POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Time for me to reintroduce myself! Summer Friedmann, IBCLC and owner of Done Naturally Lactation Co.

It’s been 20 years, tens of thousands of babies and there’s lots of new faces on here!

So here’s my story about my career and what I offer!

Don’t be fooled! Sedona is beautiful in the summertime! The elevation is similar to Denver bc it’s in the mountains. People wrongly assume since the Phoenix area is so sweltering, all of Arizona is the same.

Being from the Midwest, summertime often is miserable. 85% humidity and 100+ degree days. No one wants to be outside.

So get yourself into Sedona where the dry heat, cool evenings and mornings will be so refreshing!

And this is a major favorite restaurant of mine and Peter’s. I always have to sit on the rocks, get my legs in and just soak, sit and listen to the water race over the rocks.

Sedona = Serenity

What a GEM! So not only are they “THE BEST DONUTS in ALL of ARIZONA”, the owners are from Kansas City AND…the best part…they live next door to us in our Sedona cul-de-sac.

What are the odds?! Sedona Serendipity at its finest.

So not only are their donuts phenom, their swag flys off the shelves! I got myself a sweatshirt and a mug! Their stickers are hilarious; designed by Paul (owner). And their T-Shirt in a can …. Brilliant!

Lynette (owner) gave us a tour of the back (not filmed - high level secrets) … and seeing how they operate, the detail and the fine tuned process obviously are critical components of their success!

So when you go to Sedones (as I call it)…

1. Stay at our house!

2. Sit on the deck looking at the mountains with your bakers dozen of Sedonuts & Coffee!

I promise you, your taste buds and tummy will be so happy!

Lynette & Paul, we love everything and having you as neighbors is a quick way for Sedona to feel like home.

Serendipity everywhere the day we moved Ziah into his dorm at KU.

1st. This is a photo of me from 1995 with my dad (a KU Alum) helping me move into my dorm. @thevintagehawks posts this and it makes me smile every time. SO Ziah and I decided to recreate it. 31 years later I’m moving my son into KU.

2nd. A photo of my family. THREE generations of Jayhawks. My dad, Steve Mayse (80). My son, Luna Hill (class of 2027), me (class of 1999), my youngest son, Ziah Hill (class of 2030) and my mom 73…also a KU alum!

3rd. A pic of my dad and Ziah. Ziah’s room number is the same as my dad’s was.

4th. A pic of my mom and Ziah. Her dorm was GSP just like his.

I love serendipity like that.

❤️💙. Rock Chalk KU. No other school had a chance in this family. We are born Jayhawks.

Still blown away that in 2019 when I moved from my inpatient hospital practice, as a Lactation Consultant, to my private practice I quickly had patients!

Thanks BIG TIME to my colleagues: IBCLCs, Pediatricians, RNs, Midwives, OBs, Fam Prac Docs, doulas and former hospital patients. Those relationships that were built over those 10 years opened this door for me and I am so grateful for every referral you have given me!

A HUGE shout out to my current and former families who continue to generously send people my way.

6.5 years later, I remain honored to be your choice to take care of these families. It is the highest compliment and know that I take precious care of every family!

Here he was 11. My youngest Ziah. For all of my boys it was part of our nighttime ritual and I watched it slowly fade with my older boys. Without remembering the last time with Luna or Tevan.

I knew someday my singing to Ziah would fade as well.

It began to not be every night, then even less often. I knew the time was nearing when he’d stop asking for me to sing to him.

I began writing down the dates he asked. Keeping record. I knew by doing that it would give me the actual last day I sang to him before sleep. I love that I have that.

He’s nearing his 18th birthday. A grown man.

The very last time he asked me to sing to him was September 30th, 2024. He was 16 nearing his 17th birthday. Close to one year ago.

Wow. Time. 🥹 Tevan is 23. Luna nears 21 and Ziah nears 18.

Do what you can to record and memorialize your tender moments with your children. ❤️

Link to an article of mine, that I wrote in 2019, about how my breastfeeding and attachment that came from that, grew into singing to my boys for a grand total of 22.5 years.

A few people somehow dodged my camera, but so thankful to all of you who were able to clink glasses with me.
