And... Now I'm crying... 😭 Funny how one family trip to Walt Disney World in 2019 has turned into so much more! 🏰 Since then, we have moved to Florida twice for 3 months and gone to the parks everyday, I have planned four Disney Girls' Trips, taken two of the boys on their own trips, and planned dozens of trips for other families as a travel advisor. ✨ (One of these memories is actually at Disneyland, can you catch which one?!) Walt Disney World became my second home and it has been such a pleasure to share that with so many of you! And the sweet faces of my boys! I can't believe how quickly they are growing and I'm so glad we have these beautiful memories to look back on. ⭐ #traveladvisor #waltsdisneyworld #takethetrip #FamilyMemories #travelplanner #disneytips #wdw

Happy Halloween from the Tanner Family! Halloween means clam chowder and Willy Wonka. 🎩 It means a donut from our friends who serve them from their garage.🍩 It means going to the "soda house" and getting spooked at the "clown house." 🤡 It means wandering around and seeing all our friends as the kids trick or treat.🎃 It means the boys carrying the Mickey and Pooh pillow cases from my own childhood Halloweens.🐭 It means laying out the boys "wawas" and sorting candy. 🍭 It has a warm place in my heart as I watch my kids grow every year and slowly need Grant and me less and less (at least holding their hands). I'm grateful for simple traditions that make the passage of time seem sweet. I see the blessings of God in our little home and I'm so grateful. Thanks for being a part of all the things I'm so grateful for ❤️

Anderson update- This kiddo finished up the first half of the consolidation phase. His ANCs have been trending down sadly. (White blood cells) So we’ve had to be more cautious with exposure to germs. He didn’t make the required blood counts to move onto the 2nd month of this phase so we are on a hold until his blood cells can get some more “good guy” cells made. You’d never know he was so low… he’s perky and happy as ever. I’m trying to decide how much risk I want to take with sending him to the 1st day of school next week for all or part of a day. There are so many factors, mentally, physically and socially with it. His school has been AMAZING! We are so lucky to have such supportive and caring educators. Anderson loves every visit he gets with a friend. He was saying today he wants to have a party with all his friends when he gets his port out AND when he completes treatment. I mentioned we could outdoor party for head shaving and his hand went up and he said “Don’t talk about that”. Soooo…. I’ll just be quiet about that. Ha ha!

I talk quite a bit about using travel as a tool to connect with your family. I believe this so much that I have made a lot of sacrifices to travel with my family while our boys are young. What I talk about less often, but believe in equal measure, is that travel is also a tool to reconnect with yourself as well. When I was a brand new young mother, only 23, I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Fortunately, after surgery to remove the tumor and one of my kidneys, I was cured. But the emotional scars from that experience lingered much longer. I began traveling solo about once a year. I connected with other young adult cancer survivors through First Descents, an incredible non-profit organization. I learned how to rock climb on a camp with them in Moab, Utah. First Descents had a huge influence on me with regaining trust in my body, and in connecting with others who were on a similar healing journey. I continued to travel and to rock climb, first in upstate New York, throughout Colorado, and then in Northern Thailand. I navigated Manhattan, Times Square, and the New York State transit systems solo. I flew around the world, climbed mountains, and visited Buddhist temples. It was incredible and empowering. Once I moved back to Idaho, I became less involved with First Descents, but the empowerment of travel and adventure has stayed with me, my husband, and our family. It is a huge factor in our family decisions. We choose a smaller home so we can be free to explore. We choose flexible work so we can have more time together instead of running the rat race. The trajectory of our lives has been determined, in part by our love of adventure, novelty, and flexibility. I'm so grateful for the difficulty that has refined our priorities. We have created a life of which we are proud, and it wouldn't be the same without the challenges and adventures. So when I talk about my belief in travel and its power to transform our lives, I really do mean it! Take the chance, book the trip, and trust yourself to handle new and exciting opportunities. It's worth every inconvenience. Who knows what you might learn about yourself! @first_descents @thecuratedtravelcollection
