Meet Jahanara.

After 20 years she’s stepped back onto Bangladeshi soil, but she’s just trying to complete her duties and move on with life. This task has been made difficult by a daughter that’s been whining since she booked these tickets. Maybe it’s a good distraction. A distraction from how she feels about her mother dying.

If you want to find out more about Jahanara then make sure you watch I Hear Humming at Brady Arts Centre on the 19th and 20th November🇧🇩

"WE STAYED" another Season of Bangla Drama performance I did recently. Though I take forever to post about things.

It takes place in 1970/1980s East London around the British Bangladeshi community and the hardships they faced during that time. Historical events like Altab Ali's murder and the Bnagladeshi community protesting against the far right at the time.

Sadly to say it feels like this history is extremely relevant even today.

First and foremost, a huge congratulations to our entire cast for coming together and breathing life into our ideas. Would you believe that until the week of the show, most of them had no idea what the others were working on beyond their own parts?

When @seasonofbangladrama announced KINDNESS as this year’s theme, we found ourselves unable to settle on just one story. Instead, we decided to create a polyphony of voices on stage — 2 creators, 4 writers, 5 stories, and 9 performers — all weaving together one meta-narrative about kindness.

Kindness isn’t always loud — a grand gesture, or a visible act. But both on and off stage, we explored how it also lives in the quiet moments, in the silences, in the small ways we hold space for one another. Kindness, for us, wasn’t just a theme. It became a practice — a way to heal ourselves, and each other.

For us, kindness extended far beyond the production itself. Our team supported one another both on and off stage — through check-ins, shared meals, laughter, and care. Thank you @reshamreverie for the lovely cake— we ended the night full in every sense.

With An Anthology of Kindness, we’ve come full circle. We officially started this journey 30th August. This past week has carried us through many emotions — each of the three performances awakening something old and something new, leaving us full of thought and memory, joy and stillness.

Our hearts are brimming with gratitude. There are so many people to thank, and we want to take the time to honor each act of care and support that helped us along the way.

For now, may our cast and crew find rest — a quiet pause to breathe, to restore, and to hold close the warmth we’ve shared.
