Around the New Year, we created a bullet list of what #TaylorZionistSwift could easily do to support Palestine.

Wearing Tatreez was one of the items.

Olivia still works with the most zionist record label in the industry, and her sales still support the israeli army and other neosegregationist campaigns via the #bdsuniversalmusicgroup pipeline.

Olivia's activism, however, finally broke free of most of the zionist infrastructure wherein she's adhered to it the past two plus years.

I saw a few israeli-tied companies on the #daisychainfields list. Overall, the festival is remarkably divested from israel (to my knowledge).

Many of the current pop girls will leave legacies, and @oliviarodrigo is just getting started on what will certainly be historic.

Bugün Tatreez; Filistin'in 'sumud'unun, yani azimli direnişinin ve dayanışmasının sembolüdür.

The Memory of the Thread
Palestinian Embroidery: Weaving the Texture of Identity and Resistance
Tatreez is not merely an ornamentation; it is a living archive—a language shaped by regional differences and the fashions of various eras.
The traditional ‘Tatreez’ embroideries, which serve as evidence of Palestine’s deep-rooted culture and history, are among the most powerful tangible cultural documents refuting the occupying regime's claims that the region was a 'barren desert.'
Today, Tatreez is a symbol of Palestine’s ‘sumud’—that is, its steadfast resilience and solidarity. This is not just embroidery; it is the proof of a people’s existence.
From the palm trees of Ramallah to the cypress motifs of Gaza, every stitch is a resistance against the policies of occupation.
A Response to an Erased History:
Included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Tatreez is a direct response to the myth of 'a land without a people for a people without a land.'
These lands carry the collective memory of the indigenous people who have cultivated them for centuries.

I didn’t come to tatreez with a plan.
I came to it looking for myself.

I was trying to understand what it means to carry Palestine while living far from it…
and thread became the place where things finally made sense.

Making my own thobe didn’t just teach me a skill.
It gave me language.
It gave me grounding.
It gave me a way to feel close again.

This account holds my hands-on work—the making, the learning, the becoming.

And through @thetatreezgrove, that work opens into something shared: a place for learning together, holding each other, and remembering out loud 🌳🪡

If any part of this feels familiar, you’re in the right place.
Take your time.

We move slowly here.

👇Tell me, where are you in your tatreez journey right now? It’s a joy to be in this shared space with you 💕
