Belize, plus a little photodump from the last month! 🌴🥥🤿☀️🧗🏼‍♀️🗻🇧🇿🇺🇸🇬🇧 Does anyone else feel like this year is absolutely FLYING by?! How is it summer already? 🤯 This is a little selection of shots from Belize, Oregon and a little jaunt back to the UK recently - just in time for a May heat wave! 🙌 El Niño may have been absolutely savage on the US snowpack this year, but the silver lining was not a drop of rain for our trip back to the UK, which was a first 😅💁🏼‍♀️☀️ We didn't do as much spring backcountry skiing as we'd hoped this year, but the snow gods listened and dumped 5 inches of powder in mid-May, which meant Zak was finally able to ski tour up South Sister in great conditions!  We've also been out climbing a lot recently, practicing leading & learning to multi-pitch on our own, taught by our fantastic guide @tavrsh. We're still VERY much amateur-hour, but are loving the process of learning so many new skills and meeting new friends in the climbing community! And finally, Belize was one of the most underrated tropical places we have been. The amount of underwater sea life was phenomenal, and it was a nice change to see a reef system appearing so healthy! Highly recommend to anyone who hasn't been. Thanks for making it awesome as always @ohheyimella and @damiankeyes1 😘🫶 #belize #shark #travel #digitalnomad #alwaysadventure

⛏️❄️🧗‍♀️🫶 Ice climbing with @basecamp_ouray Zak & I just got back from a week in Colorado, where we climbed in a place that's been on our US bucketlist for a while - Ouray. This small mountain town is famous for having a 1 mile long ice park of frozen waterfalls! The park has a fun origin story - in the 1980s climbers noticed frozen waterfalls forming from leaks in a hydroelectric pipe above the gorge, so (naturally) started climbing them. Every time the leaks were fixed, new ones “mysteriously” appeared. Eventually locals embraced the situation and began farming the ice each winter, creating the Ouray Ice Park that is a mecca for US ice climbing today! After a couple of days climbing various routes in the park, we tackled our first multi-pitch WI4 grade waterfall outside the park called “Slippery When Wet.” This one definitely challenged us a little, especially as it was soaking wet (shocker) and a tad claustrophobic, but we had so much fun sending it - lead by our fantastic guide, Tavish. Huge thanks to @basecamp_ouray for organising such a great trip, and to @tavrsh - a fantastic teacher and insanely talented climber! All in all, a very normal and relaxing way to spend a week. #iceclimbing #ouray #lifeofadventure #climb #mountains

One good thing about the dramatic temperature swings in the San Juans is that when it’s warm, water starts moving up in the mountains. As long as the nights stay cold (which they have been), ice will continue to grow at higher elevations. That said, it’s been unseasonably warm here in Ouray so let’s ask Santa to bring winter back to our gorge this year! I have been meaning to write to you for some time, but I have Zine 23 fresh on my mind and some spare time, so here it goes. I don’t even know where to begin with this. My name is Tavish, and I’m a twenty-three-year-old climber from Seattle. I managed to end up in a climbing gym when I was five, and by middle school, it was pretty clear to me that I didn’t fit the mold of competitive sports or other “normal” extracurriculars and that climbing and being outdoors were where I felt at home. Most people find climbing later than I did, and they like to curse my relative strength because of it, but I often wonder where I might have ended up and how bad things might be for me if I hadn’t found climbing when I was young. It sounds like maybe I might have been similar to you, my genetics certainly have not predisposed me to great mental health, and in the difficult times, it has always been the escape and purpose and camaraderie and beauty of dancing up rocks and mountains and connecting with the natural world that has kept me going. Though deep down, I think that, no matter what, I would have found it eventually. My ADHD-wracked brain wasn’t destined to last long in college or settle for a “normal” job, but I have worked in climbing gyms, built climbing walls, worked as a climbing guide, spent plenty of time living out of a car and climbing, generally not making very much money and questioning life often and hard. The constant has always been and always will be climbing. Your stories and the stories that you help other people tell are just so real and so relatable. To me, and I’m sure anyone else that can pay attention to good, real storytelling, they sit so far above today’s endless stream of bullshit clickbait media that does little more than give us brief flashes of dopamine and cause us endless distraction from caring for ourselves and those around us.
