POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

“There’s a word for what Nick and I did the first few years of tekFoundation that I love and recently remembered - to coddiwomple.

It means to travel confidently towards a yet unknown destination. Pretty accurate 😂

For a while we honestly weren’t sure where this was going, we just wanted to help charities with their tech. Eventually that caused issues and we needed a plan, but getting to share all of it and answering questions about the process felt cathartic and was sooo fun. Also first time being involved in @sparkfestivalau 🥳

The chat was facilitated by @pledge1percent Australia and was intended to be a raw discussion on what it’s like to get started on creating impact through your business - specifically @nicksheps_ deciding to leverage @tekfinder to launch @tekfoundation_ .

One thing we covered was wondering if the connection to a recruitment business came with risks/if we needed to separate things - over time I saw that Nick’s passion (OBSESSION) with recruitment was our strength. When I started he got me a LinkedIn recruiter licence, gave me an insanely detailed overview and trusted me to go for it.

Nick explained that recruitment doesn’t always have the best reputation, but recruiters have access to people. In our case, that meant access to tech talent who wanted to help, plus the networks to find the people we needed when they weren’t already in our orbit. The thing we were worried about became the reason it all worked.

Every single person I met last night genuinely cared about bringing more good into the world, and I feel incredibly privileged that we got to be part of it.

Thank you also to @canva for hosting us in the space and Kathy Ngo for sharing context on the remarkable impact Canva’s foundation has had. And thank you to everyone that joined us! ”

A few weeks ago, something extraordinary happened at @tekfoundation_ .

We received 22 new requests for tech volunteer support - all within just 24 hours! 🤯

To put that in perspective, that’s almost half as many charities as we’ve helped in the past two YEARS, all reaching out at once.

This surge came from being featured in an industry newsletter, but it showed us two things clearly: the demand for skilled tech help among smaller charities is huge, and our tiny team simply can’t keep up alone.

That’s why we’ve launched our first ever End of Year campaign.

The name? Fast Track Tech for Aussie Charities.

The goal? Kickstart fundraising so we can grow our team and capacity.

If you want to see how your support can unlock real change on the frontlines of the charity sector, please take a moment to check out the campaign. Link is in our bio!

Every donation, share, or shoutout brings us closer to scaling the tech support these vital organisations need 🙏

Thanks for being part of this journey with us!

What an incredible week at @sxswsydney 🤩

Congrats to @charitabl.app (the legendary duo Mike and Joce) for everything you accomplished in this milestone week for the impact sector. It was truly monumental, and I hope you’re taking a well deserved moment to soak it all in 😊

Big thanks also to @minderoofoundation @microsoftanz and @socentaus for helping them bring this week to life.

For @j0nimiche11e, it was such a joy to help host the Charitabl expo booth and meet so many impact-led orgs doing epic work in their communities 💛 Also an invaluable opportunity to share more about @tekfoundation_ @tekfinder and how we’re building a new model in Australia for recruitment as a social enterprise.

Hard to believe that around this time last year, we didn’t know Charitabl yet! Joni’s ticket to SXSW Sydney 2024 was sponsored by them through Ryan Ginard’s Fundraise for Australia Fellowship 🙏 It’s incredible what can happen in a year when you say yes, and put yourself out there.

Excited to see what we achieve together by this time next year (and hopefully celebrate an even bigger SXSW Sydney)!

Happy National Volunteer Week! 🥳

Today marks the start of National Volunteer Week, and we’re thrilled to celebrate the incredible power of skilled volunteering across Australia. At tekFoundation, we believe that when passionate tech professionals and dedicated charities come together, amazing things happen.

This year’s theme, Connecting Communities, is at the heart of everything we do. All week, we’ll be sharing real stories from our volunteers and the charities they’ve helped to showcase the impact, innovation, and connections made possible through skilled volunteering.

Follow along as we highlight the people and partnerships making a difference, and join us in saying thank you to all the volunteers who help build stronger, more connected communities.

Thank you Stewart & Heath for sharing how tekFoundation’s made a positive impact on @creativebytesnfp ! 🙌🏼

Over the last year we’ve been thrilled to be partnered with @creativebytesnfp - supporting them in amplifying their impact by making several strategic tech volunteer matches.

Creative Bytes’s mission is to provide high quality STEM education to students in remote and regional Australia who need it the most. tekFoundation was able to support them on this mission by connecting them with multiple talented Learning Development Managers that volunteered to help expand the coding curriculums used in Creative Byte’s programs for young learners.

Sharing the impact @tekfoundation_ services have on the charities we support and the communities they serve is instrumental in communicating what we do and why we’re here. @tekfinder started the @tekfoundation_ with a vision to level the playing field so charities have an equal opportunity to succeed, and feedback like this tells us we’re on the right track! 💚🩷

And stay tuned! More will be added to the site in the coming weeks around how you can get involved 🩷 💚

tekFoundation is more than just recruitment without the fee, we’re here to give charities the support they need to leverage technology, connect with purpose driven professionals, and help them achieve their goals.

That takes a team effort 🙌 If you’re a volunteer that wants to donate time & expertise or you’re part of an organisation interested in partnering with us or sponsoring our work we’d LOVE to hear from you!

Head of tekFoundation, Joni had a great time at @sxswsydney ✨ Check out her debrief!👇🏼

Wow what a week at SXSW Sydney 🤩

I didn’t take nearly enough pictures but got SO much out of this on both a personal and professional level.

Highlights included:
🧡 Meeting the incredible team from @charitabl.app who sponsored my badge as a member of the 2024 Fundraise for Australia cohort, thank you so much Mike Gore and to Ryan Ginard for the connection! 🙏 If you’re a charity or someone that wants a super easy way to make and track your annual giving I definitely recommend downloading the Charitabl. app (ios or android).

🩷 The most inspiring talks for me were on those encouraging taking big risks, being creative, and being kind. Additionally a quite impactful and practical talk by Renee Kirkman was a great reminder that while technology is a powerful and useful tool, we need to keep in touch with the amazing and intuitive hardware and software built into our own bodies - expressions like “trust your gut” exist for a reason…make sure you’re giving yourself space to rest & listen to your inner wisdom or you’ll burn out/end up somewhere you didn’t intend to go ✨

💚 Learned about some of the struggles and plans bigger tech companies have for encouraging their staff to give back (time, money, skills etc). The divide between the tech world and the charities that need support from that world is a known challenge that we should be collectively looking to address. I know that Nick and the board and myself really want tekFoundation and tekFinder to be playing a part in finding a solution to bridge that gap and we can’t wait to keep chipping away at this!

🤗 Ran into a few friendly faces like Rebecca McCash from @futuretechaustralia and Maxx Silver from @secouncilnswact which is always a bright spot wandering through a crowd of strangers for several days!

So grateful for the opportunity and letting it all soak in over the weekend 😊

✨ Volunteer Web Developer Needed ✨

@tekfoundation_ is looking to match St Francis Social Services with a @squarespace web developer volunteer!

Do you know squarespace? Do you want to help enhance ui/ux of an amazing organisation’s websites? Can you help review/improve SEO rankings?

We’re looking for someone that can bring St Francis’ websites into the 21st century - watch the video for details and please reach out if you’re interested/spread the word! 💚🩷

For 46 years St Francis Social Services’ purpose has been to provide support and advocacy that build the agency and dignity of each person by enabling them to achieve wellbeing and thrive into the future.

St Francis provides support and advocacy through 3 different services:

(1) @houseofwelcome provides people seeking asylum & refugees with crucial wrap-around support. They’re one of the largest transitional housing providers to people seeking asylum in NSW 🙏

(2) House of Welcome Catering creates jobs and training opportunities for people seeking asylum & refugees through their social enterprise.

(3) @centre360_ offers vital mental health counselling & programs for at-risk youth in Sydney’s East and Southeastern Suburbs

Let’s find someone that can help St Francis Social Services better represent the amazing impact they have in the community 🙌🏼
