Halloween Sourdough Pumpkin 🧡🖤

100g active sourdough starter
360g warm water
6 g 100% plant-based orange food coloring powder
500g unbleached bread flour
10g salt

Dissolve the powder in water before mixing it with the starter. Coat the shaped loaf with black cocoa powder right before scoring and baking. Bake covered at 430°F for 20 minutes, and then uncovered at 430°F for 10-15 minutes

There’s just something about fall that I love so much. 🍂🤎

The cooler weather, slower days, cozy mornings, and all the little traditions that come with the season. I love being intentional about enjoying it all, making memories, and finding joy in the simple things.

And of course, I couldn’t think of a better way than with a chicken wearing a scarf, sipping a latte, and searching for the perfect pumpkin in the patch. 🐓☕🎃

One of my favorite things about sourdough has been finding ways to combine my love for baking with a little creativity. Bread has become another way for me to express myself, and seasonal designs make it that much more fun.

Isn't it the cutest thing you've seen all day? My little Ghosty Gal turned out so adorable! 👻 It's one of my softest, fluffiest, airiest loaves! 🤍

Her face is painted with black cocoa powder and the mix of Thai rice flour and red @watkins.1868 plant based coloring. The flower is held in place with my father's-in-law amazing honey that I often include in my bakes 🍯

Rye(ish) Sourdough...

66.6% @dovesfarm Organic Strong White / 33.3% @cotswoldflour Dark Rye at 76% hydration. We built our dough over 8 hours before a 24 hour cold proof at 4°C, then we baked in our @challengerbreadware pan at 230°C (ish!) for 35 mins with steam and 9 mins lid off using our @thebreadmat

Super pleased with my first time using this stunning bread pan. My bread had a beautiful oven spring as the pan trapped all the heat and steam it requires for a loaf to expand and rise.
