For the 2nd year in a row, @thehelpermini is going MEGA! . The brain-child of local artist @kevinkperry, the Helper Mini has featured dozens of artists over the years, including painters, sculptors, ceramicists, and even DANCERS! . You might be wondering how to fit an avant garde dance trio into a gallery the size of a Little Free Library.. the answer? Holograms, of course. . Stop by 76 S Main to see this HUGE show!! . Then wander up to 30 S Main to see where it all began... . . . #thehelpermini #megamini #helperartsfestival

A look behind the curtain. How we built the hologram installation for BACK ROOM OFF THE BOULEVARD. Shot the dancers in a 20’ black box in my studio, built the miniature set by hand, then used a Pepper’s Ghost illusion to bring the performance into the Helper Mini. See it in person in Helper, Utah through the end of March. ⸻ CREDITS Director & Installation Designer @chadkirkland Choreography & Performance @slcpunks @kaleenachung @haileynilson @julia.ma Cinematography, Scenic Design & Build @bennettduchin Gaffer @jontinsley Key Grip @zackpratt Curated by @helpermini @kevinperry Equipment thx to: @michael_kunde @jontinsley @redmanmovies #artinstallation #behindthescenes #peppersghost #dancefilm #utahart

BACK ROOM OFF THE BOULEVARD A hologram art installation opening this Saturday at @thehelpermini in Helper, Utah. We filmed dancers from @slc.punks inside a 20×20’ black box we built in my studio using black fabric walls, then transformed the performance into a hologram installation that now lives inside a miniature set built for the Mini. You’ll be able to watch the dancers perform in the street, then lean in and see the ghost of that performance happening inside the gallery. Opening Saturday, March 7 — 6pm 30 South Main Street, Helper, Utah The installation will be up through the end of March. If you’re passing through Helper this month, lean in and take a look. — CREDITS Director & Installation Design @chadkirklandphoto Choreography & Performance @slc.punks @blacklimon @haileynilsonnn @j.m.ma Cinematography, Scenic Design & Build @bennett_duchin Gaffer @jontinsley Key Grip @thisisgonnabereallygood Curated by @kevinkperry @thehelpermini Equipment thx to: @michael_kunde @jontinsley @redmanmovies

A bts moment. I personally made the ancestor’s necklace from the bones and shell of a turtle that died in my back yard. I never got a chance to meet the turtle, he was gone long before I moved into my home.

Thanks so much @thehelpermini for inviting me to create some baby carvings for September! Swipe through to see some of the process. Loved being a part of such a special exhibit and relished highlighting some fun Utah pollinators and the plants they love. Milkweed + Monarch Sunflower + Honey Bee Sego Lily + Bumblebee Yucca Plant + Yucca Moths I tried out using mother of pearl and it was a lot harder than I thought it would be but I like how it turned out in the end. Plus I got to paint the fun little close-up flower backgrounds. Just an absolute joy from start to finish! ❤️
