I spent enough years thinking the goal was to be smaller.

Smaller waist.
Smaller thighs.
Smaller number on the scale.

At 44, I have a very different goal.

I want to be STRONG.

Strong enough to hike, ski, travel, play with my kids, carry my own luggage, and stay independent as I get older.

I recently hip thrusted 225 pounds. Thanks @thekatelync for coaching me.

And I was more proud of that number than any number I’ve ever seen on a scale.

I’m not training for a smaller body.

I’m training for a bigger life.

Our kids are always watching.

Not just what we say about our bodies…
But how we treat them.

They notice if we celebrate what our bodies can do or criticize how they look.

They notice if we make time to care for ourselves or always put ourselves last.

They notice whether we see aging as something to fear, or as a privilege worth preparing for.

When I bring my daughter to the gym, I’m not hoping she’ll remember every workout.

I’m hoping she’ll remember that…

✨ Strong women take care of themselves.
✨ Health is something you build, not something to hope for.
✨ Her body deserves respect, nourishment, and movement.
✨ Doing hard things builds confidence.
✨ Getting older isn’t something to hide from; it’s something to prepare for.

One day she’ll make her own choices.

Until then, I hope she remembers watching her mom choose strength over perfection, health over appearance, and longevity over quick fixes.

Because the greatest lesson I can teach her isn’t how to lift weights…

It’s how to build a life that allows her to stay strong enough to fully enjoy it.

There are plenty of things I’ll save money on…

But these are the five things I’ll happily spend more on because they’ve given me the biggest return on my health, energy, and skin.

Day 11: Aging in reverse w/o Botox.

Here’s the truth no one is talking about:

After 40, we lose muscle every year—and that affects:
– metabolism
– hormone balance
– posture
– skin firmness

So while everyone is chasing creams and quick fixes…
the real anti-aging work is happening in the gym.

For me, that’s looked like:
✔️ lifting heavier
✔️ walking daily
✔️ focusing on strength (not just cardio)

Because midlife skin doesn’t need more products—
it needs better habits.

Strength training isn’t just about building muscle, it’s been shown to slow biological aging and even improve skin elasticity.

As we age, we naturally lose muscle (which impacts metabolism, hormones, and the structure under our skin).
When you build it back, especially in large muscle groups like your glutes you’re supporting collagen, circulation, and overall skin quality from the inside out.
