COLLAR COMES TO ŌTAUTAHI.⁠ ⁠ Following a sold-out presentation at New Zealand Fashion Week, The Keep presents... COLLAR arrives in Christchurch for a one-afternoon-only exhibition as part of CSFF.⁠ ⁠ Bringing together 60 makers from across Aotearoa, the exhibition explores the collar as both object and adornment. I had the privilege of bringing the Collar exhibition to life alongside my studio @thekeep__ and @lelajacobs showcasing the work of 60 talented makers from across Aotearoa, each responding to the brief of ‘collar’. Working from my perspective as a jeweller, I explored the idea of adornment through a pair of vintage kid leather gloves, embellished with my silver lace jewellery and a large silver button, star-set with blue and pink sapphires. By stitching the gloves together in a particular way, I played with the duality of form: from the front, they evoke the silhouette of a classic collar; from the reverse, a pair of embracing hands. The piece can be turned either way, inviting a shift in perspective. Flattening the rings and bracelet across the gloves became an exploration of jewellery in two dimensions, allowing familiar forms of adornment to take on a new life beyond the body. These images are from our Tāmaki showcase as part of New Zealand Fashion Week @nzfashionwk , where we were fortunate to share the exhibition across three sold-out shows. We are so grateful to everyone who came to experience the work and to all those who helped bring this exhibition to life. It is a joy to see the show travel south for Ōtautahi Fashion Week, and I look forward to seeing the exhibition continue its journey. Ngā mihi nui to all who made it possible.

NZFW, 17th - 22nd aug, 2026. volunteered backstage as a dresser for the opening show, khadi beyond borders, juliette hogan, the breast cancer fundraiser show, and both closing shows. tasks undertaken included dressing models, steaming garments, organizing and doing stocktake of garments on the racks post show, and coordinating with the backstage manager to fine tune the smaller details. i also attended the graduate collections show and the keep’s collar exhibition. i am so endlessly grateful to be chosen for the role, i met so many industry professionals and made so many friends. can’t wait til next year :) #nzfashiondesigner #nzfw2026 #runway #onlineportfolio

Sixty makers, one brief, and as many readings of what a collar could be. They hung at the height they’d be worn, turning on twine. @lelajacobs has been preoccupied with the collar in her own practice for years, and when she put the question out, the answers came back pinned, tucked, beaded, threaded, cut, embroidered, woven, and commerce nowhere in it. She curated the show with the collective at @thekeep__, and I left wanting to know more, so caught up with Lela for an interview in the new issue of @homestylemag. Collar comes to Ōtautahi this month as part of the @nzfashionwk Spring Fashion Festival. Can highly recommend nabbing a ticket… It’s even better in person. Our beautiful COLLAR collaboration sold out during @nzfashionwk in Auckland. We are delighted to share this celebration of making, materiality, and craftsmanship with Ōtautahi. For one afternoon only, 60 makers from across Aotearoa come together in a collective exhibition responding to the collar as both object and adornment. Suspended as a single installation, the collars become a portrait of contemporary making — revealing the richness of material exploration, technical skill, and creative expression across disciplines.
