‘Twas the early 90s when trolls were a hot item at Toys R Us rather than mean people hiding behind the internet.

Phones were still connected to the wall and a “Mr or Mrs” would answer on the other end… then you would politely ask to speak to your friend.

You would patiently wait for your parents to pick you up after school or practice (if you weren’t walking home) and you just knew they would show up when they could.

Life was good ❤️

Is anyone else’s eye actually twitching, or is it just the caffeine trying to exit my body? 🫠🎒🚙 Welcome to “Maycember”—the month that proves the system wasn’t built for us to actually thrive.

It’s not just a busy schedule; it’s a relentless, uncoordinated sprint of field days, spirit weeks, teacher gifts, and sports banquets that assumes every parent has a clone and a bottomless bank account. 🤪 We aren’t “failing” at the juggle; the juggle is designed to be impossible.

I’m tired of the “supermom” narrative. Some days I feel less like a multitasker and more like a human circuit breaker about to pop. We’re functioning on 3 hours of sleep and 4 cups of coffee because society expects us to work like we don’t have kids and parent like we don’t have a million other plates spinning.

This isn’t just “busy”—it’s caregiver burnout disguised as a school calendar.

We talk a lot about “protecting our peace,” but in May, we’re basically in a street fight for it. For me, survival looks like radical acceptance: My car is a lost cause until June, and “no” is a complete sentence for that third optional sign-up sheet.

Mental health in motherhood isn’t about “finding the joy” in the chaos—it’s about acknowledging that the chaos is too much and we weren’t meant to carry it all alone.

We’re white-knuckling it to June 1st together. 🙋‍♀️ Drop a “YES” if you’re feeling the Maycember overload, and tell me: What’s the one thing you’ve officially stopped caring about this week to save your sanity? 👇

🔅 What a difference a decade makes! 2016 was 10 years ago and life was a little different back then. I was freelancing, which gave me the opportunity to be more hands on with my daughter’s schooling (I chaperoned her class to our state capitol), and also had more time to devote to my blog. What a year — from theme park visits with the family, to covering movie junkets, attending blogger conferences, and even running the Tinker Bell 10K!
‼️ Here’s hoping 2026, The Year of the Horse 🐴, is a good one! ☝️
