“A winner is a dreamer who never gives up.”

I’ve run many marathons, but this one hit differently.

For the first time in a while, the goal wasn’t about running faster, chasing a PB or ticking another marathon off the list. It was about getting back to something I wasn’t sure when I’d have again.

Injuries have a way of making you realise how much you take for granted. The freedom to run, the feeling of a good session, the excitement of a race, and even the privilege of pushing yourself when things get hard. The build-up wasn’t perfect. There were good days, bad days, doubts, and moments where the road back felt longer than expected.

But somewhere along the way, I realised I was so focused on getting back to where I was that I wasn’t appreciating how far I’d already come.

Yesterday was a reminder that sometimes we get so caught up in the outcome that we forget to celebrate the process. And for me, simply being back on that start line, running 42.2km and doing something I genuinely love was a win in itself.

To share that experience with friends who have supported me along the way, and to be part of a race honouring Nelson Mandela, whose story represents so much resilience and perseverance, made it that much more special.

I’ve crossed many marathon finish lines, but this one reminded me why I started in the first place.

Grateful to be back. Grateful to move. And never taking any of it for granted again.

We are so back. ❤️‍🔥

Special mention to @thisisjrad for getting me through what’s been a tough few months mentally

First post on this Magical Monday we have our youngest athlete representing #TeamSA at Kona this year. Taylor Chaning-Pearce, or more affectionately known as TCP.

TCP is a super talented young athlete that has really broken onto the scene this year, earning a Kona slot in her first ever Full Ironman event at Ironman South Africa 2026. TCP is a farm girl from KZN, training in the brutal undulating terrain of rural Greytown.

We have heard TCP doesn't drive the tractors but rather commutes across the farm on foot in Carbon plated vellies.

TCP is a ray on sunshine to anyone who has ever met her and her sunny disposition is a great addition to TeamSA. She has an unbelievable future in the sport. Taken under the wing of the legendary coach @em_pallant we all believe she is going to do great things going forward.

Good luck TCP, South Africa is all behind you and we wish all the best on the big Island. Go have a blast 🇿🇦🇿🇦💪🏼🔥
