A week of reading and listening slowly. I read 5 days out of 7, and although i didn’t read many pages, each moment was enjoyed and enough.

Something about this reread feels so pleasurable. I think it’s cause I’m not nervous/anxious/in anticipation reading through it this time. I’m just sitting with it and moving through.
It also feels like the story is moving quickly, despite how long it’s taking me to actually finish the book 😭. I’m officially a fan of re reads!

I really thought I would’ve read more food-ish books by the end of August, but I’m still reading. I might extend this theme till September, we’ll see!

What I’m seeing in BHPB is food as connection, memory, intervention, care, home-making, distraction and repair.

I’m also moving realllllly slow with The Talk of the Party. I’m listening with my partner and it’s delaying me like crazy 😭.

Let’s talk about how hard it is to remember details when there are huge pauses between reading.

I intended to read more articles and essays and the 4 I read were amazing.

As someone who loves Bolu’s romance writing, I enjoyed reading about her own love story in her own words 🥰

I appreciated the essay on “wtf is a beach read?” I read according to my moods and not the moods of publishers, trends and prescriptions, but it was cool to read something questioning why we’re pushed toward certain kinds of books in the summer.

🍋 Grove to Table 🍋 Lemons are in season (all Citrus), and I wanted to highlight the most gorgeous, sweet (believe it or not!) Meyer Lemons! Picked from my lovely host's grove in Healdsburg, CA! They were so yummy and made for the best highlight in every dish. This one is in honour of those that came to Tokyo in 2025. Whether it was a visit to see/stay with me, or reaching out ahead and making time to have a drink or a bite (or two) during your trip. Thank you!!

Travel doesn’t just take you places, it brings people to you. This year, Tokyo became a gathering place for friends and acquaintances from different chapters of my life, proof that all those passport stamps over the years were building something bigger than just memories.

We went on a southern Caribbean cruise with @royalcaribbean.

Our first stop was the US Virgin Islands and we visited St Croix and St Thomas on two different days. St Croix had a nice beach but the island felt very deserted. It was a little sad and creepy.

St Thomas on the other hand was lush and way more vibrant. We randomly chose a beach once we got off the ship and ended up at Sapphire beach which was so pretty and quiet. Just had a handful of people so felt like we had most of the beach to ourselves. We spent the whole day lounging, eating, gisting and taking pictures. It was a beautiful day 🥰🥺.
