Lifelong artist 𝑬𝒙 𝑷𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒐 collaborates with post-punk/new wave chanteuse 𝑳𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒄́ as part of the 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐜 𝐱 𝐓𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐧𝐨 𝐙𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐨! opening to our Spring Weekender this Saturday.

𝑬𝒙 𝑷𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒐 was formatively shaped by the mid-90s Melbourne rave scene, listening by the likes of 3RRR Radio, Will E Tell, and DJ HMC. This acidic, technoid infection bloomed into his multi-faceted work in music over the last few decades -- including managing the long-running Dixons Records, over 20 albums with improv collective Council of Elders and no-wave band Wunderlust, and solo production as Ex Ponto. His music is thematically rich, exploring territory and references from ex-Yugoslavian experimentalism of the 80s; the thriving, late-night hedonism of Belgrade's Club 20/44; rave reminiscence; death; family; and intuition. Hard-to-define sounds that chug with acid techno's heavy pulse but are recontextualised by his incredible musicality and sentimentality. Peep his amazing release on Vladimir Ivkovic's Offen Music before this Saturday.

Serbian born, naarm-based 𝑳𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒄́ crosses broad genre territory with their live performances that pay tribute to the post-punk, new wave, and synth-pop of former Yugoslavia, singing lyrics in their mother tongue, Serbian. They're a serial collaborator, including as one part of cult adored three-piece Soft Approach, alongside bestie Slippy Mane, and with turning Lalić into a full live band. They mix the raw energy of punk with a sense of cheek and play, a musical chameleon between contexts and worlds.

𝑬𝒙 𝑷𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒐 and 𝑳𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒄́ fuse for a rare cross-generational collab, acting as the bridge between the live and DJ section of the night. Balkan excellence from 6pm on Saturday, kicking off with a Kafana / Rooftop BBQ - doors from 6pm!

Limited $20 'boat party afters' tickets remaining in the usual place.

It's Balkan brilliance at Misc post boat party, headlined by the inimitable slow music master 𝑽𝒍𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒓 𝑰𝒗𝒌𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒄, with a lineup of live music and DJs from 6pm co-presented with 𝐓𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐧𝐨 𝐙𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐨!.

𝑽𝒍𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒓 𝑰𝒗𝒌𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒄 has been a bucket list booking for the venue since day dot. The Belgrade born and raised DJ started spinning records in the 80s as a teenager and brings these decades of experience to his slo-mo, selector style of mixing. He's got an incredible skill of building a sonic world that sounds alien but feels familiar, harmonising new and old music into a futuristic rippling acid landscape of slow motion machine funk, shimmering psychedelia, esoteric vocal samples, dense industrial, playful slo-motion trance, otherworldly dub, timeless post-punk and plenty of genres we can't even put words to.

There's so many pieces to put together in the Vladimir lore -- including the years of incredible b2bs with fellow Salon Des Amateurs resident Lena Wilikens, the boundary-pushing catalogue of his label Offen Music, his incredible cataloguing of Yugoslav 80s sounds, his pioneering cheeky gambit of spinning high energy trance 45s at 33pm, his beard, his playful press pics... It's hard to be brief when writing about a man so committed and engaged with his unique craft, but it's a style and spirit that must be felt to be understood.

A week and a half away, Vladimir Ivkovic will play an extended (3 hour) set at the Saturday night of our weekender party, all kicking off from 6pm on the roof with a Rooftop BBQ / Balkan Kafana.

Dream gig, and our perfect way to kick off the Cup Day long weekend and the warmer months!

Tickets are flying, with very limited weekend passes still available. Lots of price entry points, including cheapie $20 early entry tickets. Move quick on them so you can move slow at the club.

And special special shout out to our sibling @tung_dizzy & @itsguppybaby - shining lights, apples of our eyes 👁️ 👄 👁️
