Meet the Interns/Apprentices pt 1!

Vini Daley started as an athletic performance intern in January 2024. After a year, Daley advanced to an apprentice role, and his responsibilities shifted to the golf team. This year, Daley is working with the men’s soccer team.
Before his career in performance training, he had a distinguished rugby career in national and international invitational tournaments, starting on two men’s Division I National Championship teams and finishing as an academy player in the MLR.
Daley earned a bachelor’s in Psychology with a minor in rehabilitation and disabilities from Springfield College and a master’s in kinesiology, with a concentration in clinical exercise physiology, from Point Loma Nazarene University. He also holds his CSCS and USAW-L1 certifications and is working toward ACSM’s CEP.
Daley’s career began in the college weight room and later grew into eight years as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor in downtown Boston. He shifted into strength and conditioning, helped build an S&C facility outside Boston, and spent six years working with high school and college athletes. During that time, the facility also hosted the New England Freejacks and supported several athletes who went on to make the USA Rugby Women’s National Team.
After moving to San Diego in late 2022, he served as general manager of a personal training studio before joining UC San Diego Recreation in 2023, where he taught move right classes, provided personal training services, mentored trainers, and coached post-rehab clients through the WorkStrong program at the Rehabilitation Services clinic within the Koman Outpatient Pavilion.

Macy Nuñez joined the UC San Diego Athletics Department in 2025 as an athletic performance intern who served with the women’s basketball, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, women’s water polo, women’s rowing, and fencing programs.

Nuñez currently serves as the assistant performance coach for the women’s basketball, softball, and women’s water polo teams.
Nuñez earned her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and business administration from Point Loma Nazarene University in May 2024 and her master’s degree kinesiology with an emp

Working on Max Velocity…

Speed starts with Posture!

Stay tall, own the position, hit clean, fast switches.

Once the athlete owns the position, then we add complexity.

In this case, aqua bags, further challenging stability, coordination, and the ability to maintain posture under a constantly shifting load.

Master the movement, then challenge it!

As D1 Princeton comes to a close, I wanted to look back and remember all that we built over this past year and a half. It’s been an amazing journey and we thank every client who has been along for the ride with us. To all the amazing coaches who helped shaped D1 into a fun, family oriented environment, thank you. I’ve been blessed to work alongside some amazing people who have impacted me for the better. Lifelong connections were formed here and I hope that we were able to provide the support needed to continue living a healthy, happy lifestyle.

This part of the journey may be over, but it’s only just the beginning of a community that empowers each other to do great things. We will never forget the times we shared with each other. May you all pursue your wildest dreams!

Best of luck,
D1 Princeton Family

Back with @trainedbydeano to see where we’re at! Unfortunately we weren’t able to get it but getting those reps in is crucial for future gains. Since we don’t have a huge margin for error, lacking specific coordination really cost us here. Only way to fix that is trying (and failing) until we can figure it out. Let’s build!

In the gym with my guy @trainedbydeano today! He told me that he’s trying to dunk so we’re using the little time we have to clean up his jump mechanics. Based on his standing reach dunking would take about a 39 in vertical but I’m guessing Deans actual vertical is higher than the 33 in we measured. An awkward setup for an approach vert and the fact that Dean is naturally a one foot jumper contributed his measurement to being a bit low. We’ll be out on the court next time to see where he’s at!
