CHICAGO MARATHON 2026 ✨ My favorite city & my favorite marathon. I worried about the heat leading up to the race and thought my A, B and C goals were out the window. I decided I’d hang with @alicia_helene as long as I could. We got separated in the beginning but found each other around mile 10. I stayed with her until I needed to pull back just a little. (So grateful for you Alicia! Can’t wait to find another race and do it again!) I saw Tim, my dad and the girls 3 times and it helped SO much. The sun was out and it was HOT. I just kept telling myself to get to the next mile marker. At mile 20, I knew a BQ was possible if I held on. I would look down at my arm, with my temporary tattoos of Tim, Shay and Stella, and it kept me going. I turned on Michigan Ave with tears in my eyes, feeling so proud and grateful. One more turn onto Roosevelt and I just soaked in the finish line, feeling all the feels. I did it! I FINISHED MY THIRD CHICAGO—my fasted Chicago finish yet! ✨3:21:57✨ 15 months postpartum, 9 months post grade 4 sacral stress fracture, and my first race as a 36 year old. Motherhood doesn’t slow you down—I’m only getting faster! I want to show my girls strength, following a passion, and hard work. I’m a better mom because of it. Thank you @alissakolarik, @tribuphysicaltherapy, and @drmandimurtaugh for helping me heal and return to the thing I love! Thank you Karen and Peter for hosting, feeding and entertaining us! This trip would’ve been very different if it weren’t for you! Thank you Dad for joining us in Chicago and being there to help and support! And finally…the biggest medal needs to go to Tim, who navigates my training, the chaos, our girls, and marathon routes. You continue to show up and support me and I’m only successful because of the massive part you play behind the scenes. I love you @tohollaren21 See you next year Chicago, and Boston in 2028 😘

Differential Diagnosis of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: The median nerve passes through the carpal tunnel traveling under the flexor retinaculum where it provides motor innervation to the thenar eminence: -Abd Pollicis Brevis -Flexor Pollicis Brevis (superficial head) -Opponens Pollicis It also provides sensation to the distal aspect of the lateral 3.5 fingers: thumb, index, middle, and lateral half of the ring finger. The palmar cutaneous branch of the median travels superficial to the flexor retinaculum providing sensory to skin of the thenar eminence. Entrapment of the median nerve within the carpal tunnel may lead to motor loss of the muscles of the thenar eminence and sensory loss and/or paraesthesia to the distal aspects of the lateral 3.5 fingers. Entrapment of median nerve in the carpal tunnel will NEVER result in sensory loss to the skin of the thenar eminence. The palmar cutaneous branch of the median nerve provides sensation to the skin of the thenar eminence traveling superficial to the flexor retinaculum. Every Aspire DN lab teaches the anatomy of the entire region. Palpation and identification of the muscles are just a part of the education. The nervous system anatomy is also a major component in your dry needling education to improve your differential diagnosis and to promote clinical safety and efficiency. In this video, Innervation of the LE: Part 1, we review the sensory innervation of the lateral foot. While S1 provides sensory to the dorsal and plantar aspects of the lateral foot, the peripheral innervation is different. The dorsal aspect is supplied by a purely sensory nerve in the Sural nerve a branch of the tibial and common peroneal nerves. The plantar aspect is supplied by a mixed peripheral nerve in the Lateral Plantar nerve. This education is covered in each section for all dry needling labs from Aspire. We will teach you how to find your intended target and how to find the tissues you want to avoid.
