Thrilled to have a piece in this exhibition opening TOMORROW in Mexico:

CROSSING ~ CRUZANDO
Casa de la Cultura Oaxaqueña
Oaxaca, Mexico
October 22 - November 22, 2026
Reception: October 22nd 4-6pm
Curators: Dr. George Rivera | Pamela Beverly-Quigley

About the Exhibition —
Crossings ~ Cruzando
Life is a continual passage from where we are to where we are going. Birth marks our first crossing, and each transition that follows shapes our experience of being human. Presented during Mexico’s Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), Crossings / Cruzando draws inspiration from traditions of remembrance and the symbolic return of those who have died. For the Artnauts, crossing extends beyond life and death to encompass personal, psychological, cultural, and geographical transitions. Through diverse artistic perspectives, the exhibition explores the boundaries we navigate, the connections we form, and the transformations that inform our individual and collective human experience.

Tomorrow is the closing celebration for “Come Together: 150 Years of the Emmanuel” where although most of my paintings are hung “ecclesiastically high” (John Russell’s expression) this one is hung at eye level on a background of stripe to evoke my 2022 installation and solo show “Garden of Eden”

Come see it (and me!) tomorrow!

Fifteen years ago today Stacy and Clinton came to film an episode of “What Not to Wear” during my solo show “Slipstream” at @markelfinearts in New York. (I was NOT the target, lol!)

It was facinating to watch them film. Later when the show aired, someone, seeing my work on the show, bought a painting! (last slide)

I am thrilled to exhibit this piece in “Rhizome: Origins/From the Archive” at the University of Colorado Art Museum @cuartmuseum in the Artnauts @artnauts 30th Anniversary exhibition.

Opening Celebration:
Thursday, September 3, 4-6 pm
CU Art Museum
Boulder, Colorado

The watercolor on paper was first exhibited in “Art and Resistance” at Dar-El University in Bethlehem, Palestine in 2016, and has been part of the archive ever since.

Statement-
“Where there is war and strife, there is the human resilience and resistance to the oppressing authority. Despite restrictions, the movement lives and grows from deep underground, breaking through the ties that bind. In this piece razor wire surrounds blades of grass divided by earth and air. Razor wire is omnipresent where there are border conflicts, and the hard dividing edge suggests the same. Green is life and growth, deep blue is faith and perseverance, while red is bloodshed and passion.”

In honor of the full moon and the eclipse last night…

One more painting (of nine) currently on view at @emmanuelartgallery in the exhibition “Come Together- 150 years of Emmanuel Gallery”

It is the 150th anniversary of the building (oldest religious building in Colorado) and the 50th anniversary of the gallery. It was once a church, then a synagogue, then artist studio, and now gallery. (I first exhibited there in 1993!)

Emmanuel Art Gallery
Auraria Campus, CU Denver

On View:
Until September 19, 2026
Closing celebration: Thursday, September 17, 4-6 pm

I put lots of feathers in my paintings because I kept finding them wherever I walked. I loved the significance- birds, flight, freedom, spiritual connection, and the divine across many cultures; a bridge between the physical world and heaven. and after some research, I read that in Egyptian mythology, the weight of a feather is compared to the weight of one’s heart in the after life. @saic_lowres @saicpics @robischongallery @bumiller_art @trinebumiller @zggallery

Just a straight edge, a brush and some ink- nothing fancy. I exercised my eye hand coordination these six weeks and got better at seeing. This is a detail of one of the thirty 80” long paintings I completed at @lowres_saic this summer.

Living and working in the Loop, Chicago’s El made a huge impression on me- megatons of metal hurtling overhead every few minutes created a sense of foreboding and tremendous noise that hurt my ears. I had to stop, and wait for it to pass; Chicagoans continue about their business as if nothing was happening. They are a tough bunch!

Another time lapse of a painting I made recently- you can see the shiny surface of the Yupo paper and how the paint just floats on top- great for making fluid marks. This landscape was completely imaginary (unlike the last one from Newfoundland) and included a favorite feature, meandering and braided rivers. I added yellow to the power lines and rivers after the ink dried.

Second wall of three in my studio at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago @lowres_saic as I close out the year!
I tried a new format and explored new ways of working and media while retaining my focus on landscape and memory.
These nine paintings/drawings (of 30 total) are all mixed media on mulberry paper, 9” x 80” each.
