Future Ukulele players, look what we have all ready and raring to go for you 😍

This year, we put together our own four part series of ukulele classes for you to attend. For those learning for the first time, we recommend starting with Part 1, but you can choose any block you like. These blocks are all aimed at laying down some solid musical foundations that will give you lots of confidence. Coming along to a class is a great way to learn in a relaxed, fun setting with others at the same level. Sprinkle in a few jam sessions with us, and a bit of practise at home and you’ll be strumming like a pro in no time 😉

1. Absolute Beginners
2. Beginner Plus
3. Pre- Intermediate
4. Intro To Riffs & Melodies

These blocks are all led by our fantastic beginner teachers, Gordon, Louise, Jo & Stephen. Each of them bring their own unique charm to their classes, and are core members of our Southside Strummers team! Already we’ve been filling up fast, which is why we’ve barely posted about them!

If you are beyond the beginner classes listed here, Ukulele Saz runs the Intermediate classes and beyond. These are exclusive member only classes. Get yourself along to strummers, join as a member, and really take things to the next level 😎

Day 3/3 at @loudnproudpaisley studios. What an absolute blast, such fun, amazing takes , and so good to hear even the unmastered mix , cannae wait to hear the full master. The @katabaticbloom EP (name tba) is almost done. We have made a wee music baby.
Thanks again to @jamiemcgrory for looking after us and providing skill AND bants. We loved our time there and we will be back !

🎉 WELCOME TO THE KALA FAMILY, Ukulele Saz ! 🎉

OK… this may be the worst-kept secret of the year, but we’re incredibly excited to OFFICIALLY announce and welcome Ukulele Saz to the Kala Artist family! ❤️

From the very first conversations, it was clear that we shared the same beliefs, philosophies and ethos when it comes to the importance of grassroots players, ukulele groups, teachers and the wider community.

For us, the ukulele has always been about far more than just the instrument itself. It’s about the people, the friendships, the confidence it builds and the communities that grow around it.

And it’s fair to say that Sarah can be incredibly proud of what she has built throughout her career to date.

Saz runs her own ukulele school and leads not one, but TWO thriving community groups, The Southside Strummers and Rainbow Ukes.

She works with players from 4 to 80+, helping people of all ages and abilities build confidence, make friends and, most importantly, have fun making music.

Because let’s face it… THAT’S WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT, RIGHT?

From teaching, to performing solo, with her band Katabatic Bloom, and alongside her community groups, Saz has made it her mission to inspire people to pick up an instrument and discover what they’re capable of.

And honestly? That’s what we found infectious.

A partnership like this seemed inevitable at some point. When you find someone who shares the same passion, values and belief in what the ukulele can do for people, it just makes sense.

We’re absolutely delighted to have Saz representing Kala, and we genuinely can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes her.

At the weekend I met with @ukulele.saz for some promo shots, it was such a fun wee shoot and the walk was also nice. I first met Saz way back when I used to play gigs regularly and sometimes we’d be playing the same night, so it was great to see that she’s still absolutely killing it playing music and teaching for the younger generation! If you’re ever thinking of learning the ukulele or know someone who is I’d highly recommend Saz!

Also a friendly reminder that’ll I’ll be closing my books near the end of October ✌️

Yesterday, 11 of us ventured to the Isle of Bute, to perform at pride 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

We had an absolute ball, marching along the seafront and performing at the Bute Yard for the main event

It was our second year at Bute Pride, and yet again it was a fantastic day. What a great crowd dancing and singing along with us, and a great turn out too

Thank you to the organisers for putting on such a brilliant day and looking after us!

And, we still have one more island left on the Pride tour 2026! Next stop, the Isle of Cumbrae for Millport pride 🌈

What an absolute pleasure it has been this month to get to know Ukulele Saz!

Sarah is the unofficial Queen of Scotland with a huge Ukulele Community! It was a priority of ours to get her at Southern Ukulele Store for one of our events and whilst she was here, she showed us one of her own tunes. She is playing her Flight Navigator Tenor.
Thanks to Flight for helping us get her here last weekend.
