Wow, it’s a busy year!

Between my own workshops and performances, to performances and shows with Katabatic Bloom and the Strummers/ Rainbows, there’s a lot happening in. 2026! Things are about to get super busy and I am raring to go 💪🏼

Hopefully I’ll see lots of familiar faces this year, and even more new faces as I venture down south of the border a few times 😍

Feeling very lucky and grateful for all of these opportunities 🫶🏼

☀️ What a start to the year…

I finally have, in my hands, both the Uke Magazine all framed (thank you very much Leith❤️) and my Ukie Award!

2025 really was an incredible year. It was my 5th year in the full time ukulele adventure I am on, and I’m still pinching myself at the fact that this is how I got to celebrate the 5 year milestone 🤯

January has been a very busy month of planning, admin, scheduling, organising, and just easing in to the year in general.

I have a lot of events and festivals and workshops and gigs all in the diary for 2026 already, and it’s filling up fast. I’ll be sharing more with you very soon.

Again, thank you EVERYONE for being so supportive, kind, and for believing in me to do what I do in this ukulele world. It is a very special place to be and I am VERY lucky 🫶🏼

I have 1 very rare spot available in my Tuesday evening kids class.

This is a 1 hour class, and has four lovely girls on it all full of life and fun.
This class would be perfect for someone in primary 5 or 6 who loves music, and wants to play with others. The classes are small in size, making it a great space to make friends in a safe space with teamwork at the forefront.

It’s all about building kids up, and giving them the confidence to be themselves, and explore their own musical pathway. Kids also have opportunities to perform, or sit exams of they so wish too.
We play a variety of songs on ukulele, playing both chords and melodies, and we throw in some percussion and singing too if they so desire.

Ashley is recruiting for students for Intro to Music at @villageschoolofmusiccollective @villagemusic

These classes are perfect for kids aged 4-8. A safe, supportive space where children explore ukulele, percussion, and singing, alongside rhythm and first steps in reading music. In small groups, they form their first ukulele band, build friendships, and grow in confidence.

My Thursday Intro To Music class currently has some spaces available!

This is ideal for kids aged 6-7 (“joke” unintended haha)

In these classes we form our first bands! Learn our first songs that we play on ukulele, cajon, and s8ng along to. Along the way kids find their musical feet, learning foundational music skills that will set the up nicely to continue their musical paths!

Classes run during the school year, drop me a message or email to get involved.

EP TIME!

Last week, Katabatic Bloom ventured to loud n proud studios to record our first EP. We all loved it, and we are loving how our songs are sounding even more now. It’s just so good hearing our songs we have been playing live actually come to life in the studio.

Big thanks to Jamie who kept us in line, and put up with us all week. What a great guy and so helpful. I definitely came away with some new knowledge and experience after that.

We’ll announce the EP launch very soon, we cannot wait for you to hear our songs 🪩❤️🌸

Future Ukulele players, look what we have all ready and raring to go for you 😍

This year, we put together our own four part series of ukulele classes for you to attend. For those learning for the first time, we recommend starting with Part 1, but you can choose any block you like. These blocks are all aimed at laying down some solid musical foundations that will give you lots of confidence. Coming along to a class is a great way to learn in a relaxed, fun setting with others at the same level. Sprinkle in a few jam sessions with us, and a bit of practise at home and you’ll be strumming like a pro in no time 😉

1. Absolute Beginners
2. Beginner Plus
3. Pre- Intermediate
4. Intro To Riffs & Melodies

These blocks are all led by our fantastic beginner teachers, Gordon, Louise, Jo & Stephen. Each of them bring their own unique charm to their classes, and are core members of our Southside Strummers team! Already we’ve been filling up fast, which is why we’ve barely posted about them!

If you are beyond the beginner classes listed here, Ukulele Saz runs the Intermediate classes and beyond. These are exclusive member only classes. Get yourself along to strummers, join as a member, and really take things to the next level 😎

Last night was The Big Ukulele Saz Jam Showcase, and it was an absolute blast!

Having my Southside strummers and rainbow ukes in the same room as some of my young students from Village School of Music and Queens Park School of Music all together to play ukulele was a joy!

The kids all smashed it, and perhaps showed the adults a thing or two 😉 We had performances from my kids bands, Sorry Not Sorry’s, Disco Village, The Mighty Pebbles and the Teens!

It’s amazing seeing how after just a few years doing this ukulele thing full time how much a community can grow and evolve. We sure have the most supportive and welcoming community I could ever ask for, I appreciate everyone, as you all play such a big part in making it what it is.

Big thank you to Jamie from Village Music on the sound desk, the Southside Strummer volunteer team who helped on the night, the band for entertaining us all, my band Katabatic Bloom for grooving us out at the end, to my Mum, Ailsa and Jo who are my absolute rocks and deal with my mania behind the scenes. And finally to everyone who donated raffle prizes too that was super kind of you!

We raised £742! All of the profits and proceeds of this raffle will be going toward a VERY EXCITING EVENT that we have yet to announce for next year! All will be revealed shortly… 😉
