POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

If you prescribe exercise for pain and function, you may have had this moment: a patient asks about Pilates, and you’re weighing up evidence, practical application, and what you can deliver well.

Pilates-informed exercise shows up in the rehab literature because it’s a structured delivery system for therapeutic exercise. It can make progressions, cueing, and repeatable practice easier to standardise.

We pulled Pilates research into a clinician-friendly summary: what tends to improve, what it’s compared against, and what the evidence levels actually mean.

You can access the evidence summary on our stories or through a link in our bio ✨

DAY 2: TO MOVE 🏃‍♀️

Next up for @jeanhailes Women’s Health Week: Sammy, co-founder of @universalpractice , sharing her expertise on what movement actually makes a difference and what to do when life gets in the way.

Does exercise really need to be intense? What if you don’t have the time or energy? And what if pain, prolapse or leaking has stopped you moving altogether?

At TheRY, we’re passionate about supporting women through every stage of life and this week, we’re celebrating female-led businesses making a real difference to women’s wellness.

Universal Practice takes a whole-person approach to women’s wellbeing. Grounded in science and led by qualified physiotherapists, they bring together physiotherapy, Pilates, strength, yoga and meditation in an environment designed to complement wellbeing.

Because movement doesn’t have to be perfect, painful or all-or-nothing. The right support can help women feel empowered to keep moving through every stage of life.

A little behind the scenes of Pilates with Tom.

Using the reformer to work on all the little things that matter for footy: glute strength + hip control, calf/FHL capacity, foot strength, single-leg power and hip, knee + ankle mechanics.

For Tom, Pilates is a great way to build strength, control and capacity around the areas that need a little more attention, while keeping him moving well and staying on top of previous injuries 🏉

▪️ Shop local
▪️ Leave a review
▪️ Recommend them to your mates

Every bit of support makes a difference. Thanks for getting around the businesses that get around our club.

Building complexity through the kinetic chain ✨

▫️ Kneeling squat → inner unit + low glute max activation and lumbopelvic dissociation
▫️ Supported split squat → tripod foot loading, glute strength and lumbopelvic control
▫️ Adductor bias → increased medial chain demand, challenging foot intrinsics and glute med
▫️ Arabesque → hip differentiation, posterior chain activation and single-leg pelvic control
▫️ Rotation → deep hip rotators controlling femoral and pelvic position

Each progression adds a new stability demand while asking the body to stay organised
