i can’t really explain why you’d travel 7 hours to run 21km in a town you don’t live in. if you run, you already get it.

up at 3.30am. sun coming up over the mountains while we walked to the start, & i enjoyed every second.

the food was simple on purpose.
🥪same toastie built in a car at 8.30pm en route.
🍌same breakfast: banana, nut butter & honey.
🍯same fuel: dates & honey sticks on the run,

dates & honey & bananas are about as simple as whole-food fuel gets, & all are mostly glucose and fructose, which the gut absorbs through two different routes.

i tried it in training, it was what my gut handled best, so it stayed.

nothing new on race day is the closest thing sports nutrition has to a rule, because how well you tolerate carbohydrate while running is individual, and it can be trained.

every gut is different. mine just happens to love dates. yours may disagree, and that’s useful information too.

1:43:20, 63 seconds off my best.
pancakes after.

what do you eat on race day?

from my slow morning to yours x

What a way to begin a new chapter. 💛

For months, we’ve shared the plans, the construction, the setbacks, the small wins and every step that brought us closer to opening these doors.

Last week, we finally got to stand inside Horizen Gardens and celebrate what it had all become.

But this space was never built by one person. It’s the result of a team that gave everything to bring it to life, a community that continued to show up and support us, and so many people who believed in where Horizen was going.

To our team, our members, everyone who came to celebrate with us, and our incredible sponsors who helped make the night what it was, thank you.

Gardens is officially open, but in many ways, we’re only getting started.

Onwards. ☀️

Huge shoutout to our amazing sponsors! @biogen_sa @nawtywater @thickplot.co.za @zuneywagyu @get.revive @upactive @primeselfza @livealittlepura @drinkcas @redbullza

And huge thanks to @willyballs for all the boerie rolls 🌭

230+ kilometres. Two nights. One journey carrying a much bigger message.

Meagan is taking on #Beyond230 because women affected by domestic and intimate partner violence deserve to be known for more than what has happened to them.

There is life beyond violence. There is healing beyond crisis. And beyond survival, there should be the freedom, support and opportunity to determine what comes next.

That is what every kilometre of this run is moving towards.

Today, we’re asking you to take a kilometre with us.

💜 R100 = 1 kilometre.
Fund half a kilometre. Claim an entire kilometre. Get ten friends together and take one together.

Every contribution supports MOSAIC’s work alongside women as they access justice, healing, safety and pathways beyond violence.

230+ kilometres will come to an end. Her journey continues.

Give towards a kilometre today through our BackaBuddy campaign:
