What an incredible first competition. Thank you to @usalimitless for putting it on. Had to get in on the Halloween theme. Managed to hit a new deadlift PR, go 7/9 on my lifts and place 3rd for Men’s Raw Open. Thanks to the refs, spotters, coaches and other lifters who made this memorable. I will definitely be making a return.

"This is probably a dumb thing to do"

Thats what I said to myself and I was lifting this morning. I haven't really gone this heavy but it was feeling good so i kept stacking the plates. Before my last set of 771lbs I looked at it and thought "...I do not have a spotter... this is a lot of weight... this is probably a dumb thing to do". But everything looked good and felt good, so i went for it. Im feeling strong for bench worlds next week in Iceland!

USAPL REGIONALS RECAP:

First time on a bigger stage was nothing short of an exhilarating feeling. It was a fast paced meet, which was something to get used to, but I adjusted well. 8/9 on my lifts, my bench still needs adjusting to be ready on the day, but hit PRs on squat and deadlifts which I was looking forward to. Needless to say, I'm proud of the performance. Competing in a higher weight class was a bit humbling at the same time, so I'm looking forward to the work i put in in the off-season. Big thanks to @derricksamuel_ for the time and dedication you put in to get me ready for this meet. As you said, we now have our baseline, and now we build even more. Back to work next week 🤝🏾💪🏾 Shyne on

Midwest Regionals Meet Recap!

Honestly I can’t lie I be having fun just being in the environment! I’m learning my different switches though 💪🏾 3rd Powerlifting competition but first ever regionals a little over a year in to consistent training since 2019.

Squats went okay.
295kg=650.364 lb

Went for state record @322.5kg=710.991 lb (Yes I’m coming for state records :) there I said it just incase anyone was wondering)

Bench went well
175kg=385.809 lb

Deadlifts was on point
295kg=650.364 lb
Got revenge from comp in February and to qualify for nationals and secure 1st place 🥇s/o to @nebufootwear for the deadlifting shoes ! Pulled a meet best in them! 💪🏾 brothers got me right fr 🙏🏾✍🏾

So with that being said thank you to @irongorillabarbell for the training facility that I train at! AMAZING SPACE AND EQUIPMENT!!

‼️LONG POST‼️

I figured the stuff I want to talk deeply about deserves it’s own post. 2026 Midwest Regionals was quite a meet but was quite a weekend for me getting to compete, getting to coach, but most importantly taking and passing my state referee practical exam for USAPL. I have been competing in powerlifting since I was 15 and roughly a couple years ago I wanted to take the state referee test and serve as a referee. Back in April I passed my written exam and was set to take my practical here in Appleton during midwest regionals. Before this test I was worried about not passing but I ended up passing with a 95/100 on the practical and thanks to @usapl_alex he taught me a lot more during my test than what I can learn just in the rulebook so thank you Alex. I owe a lot of thanks to getting me to this point people like my coaches Aaron and April Maves @meyermaves for believing in me and helping me get in contact with WI state chairs to begin the referee process. People like @kevinswolerrano and @thekuminator for teaching me about how processes like weigh ins, drug testing etc work and also how the jury works along with so much more. Finally I want to thank @usaplwi for working with me in this process I greatly appreciate it. I am so happy that now I get to finally work with the sport and the people who have made an impact on me and my life and helped make me the person I am today. To the people I tagged in this post I want to wish my deepest thanks to you for helping me get to this point and for anyone that’s reading this thank you for listening.

2026 USAPL Midwest Regionals recap time. What a good weekend this was, I am not too sure where to begin with this weekend but let me go down the list of all the things I got down to. This weekend I finally sat for my state referee practical exam, becoming a state referee has been a very long goal of mine for many reasons I will touch on another post and I finally became a certified referee with a practical score of 95/100 with all lifts! I also got the honor to coach my friend Gavin to a his first ever 9/9 and 27/27 meet and he won the 75kg T2 weight class division very proud of this kid. Now finally for me I competed in men’s raw 140kg open and took 4/4 and also went 9/9 squatting a meet pr of 485lbs, benching 254lbs another meet pr, and deadlifting an ATPR of 501lbs. I am so happy with this weekend and so happy that I finally am now a state referee and can finally begin serving and working for the sport that made me the man I am today. Until the next one.🙏
