INTRODUCING MARIE-LOUISE MÜLLER x UTE FABER

As part of FASHION POSITIONS
at POSITIONS Berlin Art Fair
Tempelhof Airport, Hangar 5
September 10–13, 2026

MARIE-LOUISE MÜLLER is a slow fashion studio in Berlin, founded in 2025. It produces couture and wearable art, crafted by hand, exclusively from natural fibres, with upcycling as one of its core elements. The studio specialises in crochet, knitting, embroidery and beadwork, all carried out in-house. The label is run by the designer Marie-Louise Müller. On 3 July 2026, she was presented with the New Faces Award Style by BUNTE magazine in the ‘Young Fashion Design’ category; two days later, the studio made its debut at Berlin Fashion Week with the ESCAPIST GARDEN SS27 collection.

Ute Faber,(born in 1962, Westerwald), studied painting, sculpture and art history in Berlin and Italy. She has been working as a freelance artist in Berlin since 1997.
Her media include woodcut, painting, objects and installation. Her found objects come from the city and the natural world. Through her, they undergo an artistic metamorphosis. Her themes are networks of relationships, existence and transience. She is also known for her shoe sculptures. In 2026, her works were exhibited in New York, Vienna and Kolkata.

This is Ute Faber.
Beyond being an internationally acclaimed multi-media artist with an incredible resume and career, she is also my friend, mentor and a constant source of inspiration.

Ute brought out the shapes, textures and colours from ESCAPIST GARDEN and completely elevated our courtyard reception with this majestic, breathtaking artwork. @ute.faber.art 💛🧡🩷❤️

@ute.faber.art came to visit us at Porto.art. It was one of those meetings that felt natural from the very beginning. No pressure, no big words, just a quiet sense that we were speaking about art in a similar way. Not as decoration, but as something that can genuinely shift the way we see.

There is something in Ute’s energy that feels very close to what we are trying to build at Porto.art: attention, colour, freedom, a bit of playfulness, and tenderness for things that many people pass by without noticing.

And the best part? She arrived dressed perfectly in the colours of @mariannastuhr exhibition. Completely by accident, of course.

I love moments like this — when a person, the paintings, and the space suddenly seem to belong to the same conversation.

Thank you, Ute. It was a beautiful meeting, and definitely not the last one.

I am so honoured to be invited back to teach a new silkscreen course at @summeracademy.at with wonderful @otisblease this summer.
The school was founded in 1953 by Oskar Kokoschka at Hohensalzburg Fortress in Salzburg (built in 1077!) In the 80s/90s Nan Goldin, Kiki Kogelnik, Bridget Riley, Nancy Spero, Kiki Smith, Leon Golub, Jim Dine, Bruce McLean, Hermann Nitsch, Eduardo Paolozzi amongst many others taught there.

The castle is magical and buzzes with rich history. It feels frozen in a time when artists had the space to create freely and were allowed to dream as big as they wanted within art school walls. The team who keep the school alive are its backbone. It is a special, rare environment where anything feels possible. Thank you so much for having us back, Salzburg has become a much loved home away from home.

In summer, students can take 2–3 week long courses, becoming inhabitants of the castle family. The school offers printmaking, painting, installation, performance, writing, curating and many more - changing every year.

I’ve learnt so much about myself , my work and what is important to me from working in this academy. Teaching a diverse range of humans (age 18-84!), who have walked such different paths in life . Everyone brings different ideas, inspirations and energy to the table. I’m honoured to learn from these fantastic students every summer and be part of the community.

Otis and I will be teaching silkscreen printing through drawing and painting in an approachable, experimental course. We’ll start with the basics, then explore the medium’s possibilities.
The studio will be energetic and hands-on, with group discussions and tutorials to exchange ideas and push work forward. Participants are encouraged to move beyond traditional printmaking and develop their own printmaking language.

The course runs 20 July – 1 August. Link in bio!

Scholarship deadline - 7th April, Regular application deadline 1st May

Did you know Hannah Tilson (@hannahtilson64 ) & Otis Blease (@otisblease ) rethink their entrance door every year each time with a new mix of textiles and patterns? ✨Swipe to see how their door looked in 2025!

Today’s throwback takes us to “Patterns in Printmaking: From Surface to Form”, the printmaking course held 21 July–2 August 2025 at Fortress Hohensalzburg, Salzburg.

Rooted in a love for patterns both historic and everyday the course invited participants to see the world through a pattern lens. Suddenly, they were everywhere: shadows through oak leaves, fences cutting the light, window reflections, kitchen tiles, fabrics, wallpaper.

Through intaglio techniques like aquatint, hard- and soft-ground, chine-collé, carborundum, and more, participants built their own patterned languages inking, carving, scraping, erasing, repeating embracing rhythm, gesture, and surprise along the way.
