“I asked myself that same question this morning... why am I here? I think it’s to see what my limits are. What is resiliency? What is grit?”
@zandermugglestone

Throwing it back to the early hours of this morning as the @georgemountainultratrail 100km and 60km fields stepped up to the starting line in the freezing, pitch-black George air.

Standing on a starting line at 4:00 AM with a headlamp cutting through the mist forces an immediate reality check. We caught up with runners just minutes before the horn blew, and the raw honesty was electric.

Some are out there out of pure curiosity to see what the Outeniqua peaks look like at dawn. Others are explicitly there to force themselves into the pain cave—because they know that after the first 30 kilometers, the physical body gives out, and the rest of the race is won entirely in the mind.
It’s an unknown territory that scares them and excites them all at once.

But as the countdown hit zero, every single doubt evaporated into the mountain air, replaced by the unified drive to find out how badly they want that finish line. And some have already crossed it!

The mountains don’t care about your training plan; they only care about your heart.

👇 To everyone out on the route right now pushing through the afternoon heat—we see you.
