From 3000+ patients to around 300… you can see why patients feel like a number and cog on a wheel in insurance based primary care.

Ever left your annual physical feeling frustrated or unheard? 🩺

Dr. Lara breaks down the disconnect between what patients think an annual physical should be and what insurance companies actually cover.

Doctors are often expected to check specific boxes, leaving little room for additional concerns without extra billing or uncompensated time.

The result? Patients either leave with an unexpected bill or feel like their doctor dismissed their concerns.

The problem isn’t always the patient or the physician. Sometimes, it’s the system they’re both stuck navigating.

Not every form of physical activity needs to be intense to be valuable.

Long walks, hiking, fresh air, and time with the people you love.

Movement isn’t just about burning calories. It’s about building a healthier body and a life you actually enjoy living.

Don’t underestimate the simple stuff. ❤️🐾

God knew the timing.

We both had to change our relationship with food, our bodies, and ourselves before we ever found each other. ❤️

Here’s the truth: cortisol is real, and it matters. It’s the hormone that wakes you up, regulates blood sugar, and helps you handle stress. You need it to live.

But somewhere along the way, it became the internet’s new villain. “Cortisol belly.” Cortisol detox teas. Supplements promising to “balance your hormones.”

This is the diet-culture playbook:
1️⃣ Take a small truth
2️⃣ Blow it up into a fear
3️⃣ Sell you the fix

Yesterday it was carbs. Then seed oils. Today it’s cortisol. Tomorrow it’ll be something new.

For most people, the basics still do the heavy lifting: sleep, movement, enough protein, managing stress, and a sustainable way of eating. Not a mocktail or a $60 supplement.

If you genuinely think something’s off with your hormones, talk to your doctor and get tested. Don’t let a 30-second reel diagnose you.

Had a great experience at @rightcare_clinic had to bring on Dr Todd Chassee to speak about their new practice… essentially a ER LITE run by ER docs.

?Ever heard of @rightcare_clinic ??

I had a personally great experience with them a few months ago. Had a foreign body in my eye I couldn’t get out. Was in and out in less than 20 minutes! Thank you Dr Chassee for coming onto @vitalsvalues podcast!

Pelvic floor issues are so much more common than most people realize… and they’re not just something women experience after having kids.

Men can have pelvic floor dysfunction too.

If you’ve ever dealt with leaking, urgency, pelvic pain, constipation, pain with intimacy, or even unexplained low back, hip, or tailbone pain, your pelvic floor could be part of the picture.

On this podcast, we talked about:
• What the pelvic floor actually is (and why it matters)
• Common symptoms I see in the clinic
• Why “just do kegels” can cause more harm than good
• Why men can experience pelvic floor dysfunction too
• What a pelvic floor evaluation and treatment really look like (it’s probably not what you think!)

My hope is that conversations like this help remove some of the stigma around pelvic health and encourage people to know they don’t have to just “live with it.”

If you’ve ever had questions about pelvic floor therapy, I’d love to hear them in the comments!
