POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

In 2022 I bought myself a course in Art Therapy when I was still figuring out which way to go but then lots of things happened and I couldn’t quite get around to complete it. It is not the most difficult of courses but it still needed time and focus. It was during Autumn Equinox that it felt really bad that I have quite a few incomplete projects, so I decided to tackle it.

Once you harness one kind of energy, the inertia of it carries you further. There was another project which was left unfinished and that one didn’t look good as the teapot cozy doll was dismantled and its body parts were looking rather gruesome and sad.

The teapot cozy doll was has a bit of a story. It was acquired in Moscow in the late 70s of the last century where @catasinthehedgerows was staying as a child with her parents through her dad’s work. In 2025 Cata gave me this rather peculiar doll as not everyone would appreciate the value of its origin and rather peculiar look (my children were a bit scared of it to be honest). Straight away I dismantled it and gave it a good wash but not all the parts survived it. The face shriveled up and became even more unsettling. Then a few things happened… again… and it is only now, thanks to Autumn Equinox I managed to complete it. Now it is filled with lavender and fills space with beautiful aro ma especially when sitting on a hot teapot. I brought a few bits from Russia and wove them into her new attire to complete the circle and to let me preserve something special and at the same time let go someone even more special.

We have also meditated with nettles @wastesmiths thank you for that, it was so grounding and liberating. For me it was a little celebration of completing long outstanding matters and being liberated from those little niggling burdens. Good day altogether!💚

October 24th will be your last opportunity to get a free bike repair from our pop-up Dr Bike at @st_saviours_yard before we make a few changes to what we offer for the winter. Find us at the south end of the Yard behind St Saviours Church.

Our mechanic has over 25 years of industry experience. Over the last few months we have replaced brake blocks, replaced cables, adjusted gears and brakes, fixed punctures, adjusted mudguards and even serviced bearings for free for people like you. No matter how rusty or rattly your bike is, you’re very welcome to bring it down. We’ll repair everything that we can, and can give you advice about the rest.

We work on a first come, first served basis so getting to us early is recommended, and while you’re waiting for your repair to be carried out there are loads of things to browse and consume at St Saviours Yard. Everything from great food and drink offers from @sod.bakery, @mounehkitchen and @eastdough through to zero waste shopping at @allplanetkind or something more unique like @thriftless.studio where they’ll take an extraordinary portrait of you.

Our free bike repairs have been made possible by the fabulous @wearecyclinguk. We’re hugely grateful for their support. See you in October ♻️💚🌍

We’ve got a busy month ahead of free cycling support. It all starts this evening with an experiment, our first outdoor Bike Kitchen pilot at @st_saviours_yard from 6pm until 8pm. A Bike Kitchen is an opportunity to get free support to fix your own bike, rather than have someone else fix it for you. You’ll get access to tools and the support of an experienced mechanic.

Our regular monthly Dr Bike at St Saviours Yard is on Saturday 26th September from 10am until 1pm. This is an opportunity to get a free bike repair in a great spot for browsing while you wait to get your bike back. St Saviours Yard has some delicious food and drink offers as well as a whole range of traders to visit.

Finally we have a special Dr Bike at the wonderful Galley Hill Dash on Saturday 19th September from 10am until 1pm. We’re excited to be bringing free bike repairs back to Mile Cross and such a great event with @thecommonlotnc and @epicnorfolk.

We look forward to seeing you and your bike this month 🚲♻️💚🌍

On Thursday 10th September the plan is for @wastesmiths to bring the setting and you’re invited to bring your bike, and together it should be a good evening.

Basically from 6pm until 8pm we’ll be experimenting with our first ever outdoor Bike Kitchen at @st_saviours_yard. A Bike Kitchen is an opportunity to get support with fixing your own bike, so you’ll get access to tools and an experienced mechanic on hand. As hosts we’ll also sort you out with a hot or cold drink. If you want something more fancy, we’re expecting @sir_tobys_nr3 to be open.

The main thing we suggest if you’re planning to drop in is to come early, bring your own bike and don’t come with anything too complicated to fix. Take this as an opportunity to learn something new about your own bike and a chance to make some adjustments to gears or brakes while you’re here.

We look forward to seeing you between 6pm and 8pm on Thursday 10th September at St Saviours Yard.

This Saturday morning!

If you're feeling a bit frazzled or in need/want of a bit of Village, come join us ( @wastesmiths and @wewearthetrousers) for Mend, on Saturday.

It never fails to help me feel a bit of belonging and peace.

If mending your clothes scares you a bit, maybe come join us in getting creative with plant matter instead.
Both are available.

Every month, we'll be looking at local plant customs, rituals, or practices and the plants we find locally.
This month, we're remembering or learning how to make corn dollies, which were traditionally made around harvest time.

You can do either or both - whatever takes your fancy.

We're in the upstairs room at The Friends Meeting House, Peggs Yard, Red Lion St, Aylsham, from 10am, with a pot of tea 🩷

Come join us, bring a friend if you fancy, or just bring yourself.

We’re going to try something different! In fact you may not even know what a Bike Kitchen is…. so maybe we’re introducing you to something new?

On the evening of Thursday 10th September we’re going to keep the St Saviours Yard kitchen open and take over the central thoroughfare to turn it into a giant outdoor bike workshop. However this is no regular bike workshop. The plan is to offer you a workstand and tools to support you to fix your own bike.

So it’s different to a Dr Bike. The Dr Bike will be in the yard with 25 years of bike mechanic experience, but the focus will be on skill sharing so that you can fix things yourself, on your own bike. Some of the @st_saviours_yard traders will be staying open a little later, and ShoxBikes have generously offered to help out too.

So what should you expect?

Bring your own bike, but don’t expect to get any huge repairs done during the evening. It’s important not to set your expectations too high. It’ll be a busy night and it will be a success if everyone leaves feeling that they’ve learnt something new about their own bike. Take this as an opportunity to get to know your own bike better, and how to look after it better.

Turn up early and we’ll offer you a workstand, and a drink of some kind… tea, coffee or a cold drink. Alternatively @sir_tobys_nr3 will be offering their outstanding selection of beverages. Our experienced mechanic will talk to you about your bike and see if there is a job to tool you up to do during the evening. You’ll then get access to tools, explanations and support to navigate that job yourself.

The more you know about fixing your own bike, the more you’re likely to ride it, and that’s better for everyone!

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday 10th September for some social bike shenanigans 🚲💚🌍

Our @wastesmiths pop-up Dr Bike will be offering free basic repairs again on Saturday 22nd August from 10am until 1pm. The awesome news is that there’s a whole bunch of new things to go check out while you’re waiting for your bike to receive its TLC.

One of the most exciting new additions is @mounehkitchen offering extraordinary Palestinian food. If you’re looking for something different then @thriftless.studio will take a unique portrait of you using an incredible camera constructed by Adam. It’s an intriguing journey with a beautiful memento at the end. What’s more ShoxBikes opened last weekend and will be offering bike support throughout the month when we’re not there. Follow @mark.lewisshx for updates from them.

Then of course there are all the @st_saviours_yard staples like @sod.bakery, @sir_tobys_nr3, @allplanetkind and @funkyvits. You’re unlikely to get bored while you’re waiting for your bike.

Huge thanks to @wearecyclinguk for the support that allows us to offer this service. If you’re bringing your bike to be fixed then get there at the start of the session. We offer repairs on a first come first served basis. No matter how rusty or rattly your bike is, bring it along. All we’ll ask in return for the repair is an email address for our funder.

See you on Saturday 22nd August 🚲💚🌍

It was the first time of mindful celebration of Christian Lammas and Celtic Lughnasadh both marking the ancient tradition of celebrating first grain harvest, breaking bread together, showing gratitude to the land.

First I spent a lovely evening with @wastesmiths at St Saviors Yard in Norwich in a lovely company making corn dollies, playing with yarns and fibers, talking about the change in the seasons, approaching autumn, the first crops of the seeds we had planted earlier whether actual or intentional, the failures and achievements. 🌾💚♻️💚🌾

The following day @brittensbotanicals delivered some homemade food to the colorful, exciting and liberating retreat of @the_wildhub.norfolk deep in the woods of Buxton Heath. All vegan lunch and dinner were themed around fermented foods including bread kvas, sauerkraut, lacto fermented vegetables amongst grains of buckwheat or millet and of course sourdough bread which is being broken by a wonderful community of The Wild Hub. 🌾🌳🫟💚🫟🌳🌾
