Last week, AJ @thevibefounder and I led our pilot hands-on AI workshop for healthcare professionals in NYC, sponsored by @base44.app and Tavily. As AI models ship new capabilities monthly, our vision is to give healthcare professionals the tools to feel empowered to build the next OpenEvidence or Oura — or something far more personal — by learning AI through community. What people built: Dr. Jonathann Kuo @dr.kuo, CEO and founder of @extension.health used AI to refine his company’s workflows, augmenting his team as he scales. Dr. Matthew Igbinigie, MD, @doc.iggy orthopedic spine surgeon and virtual mentor to 400K+ students— built an app that generates personalized study calendars with checklists, born from his own frustration with the lack of personalized study tools. Rorie McCarthy, Director of Operations at Hudson Medical @hudsonmedical — built a referral finder using patient’s insurance, a zip code and a radius, with in-network providers. Dr. James Salway @dr.salway, longevity medicine physician at Extension Health — built a patient intake dashboard surfacing treatment plans and allergies, designed to automate into his practice. Dr. Roman Khattak @romantnovel — built a multidimensional patient analysis for cash-based clinics, to sharpen the care and treatment they offer. We discussed how healthcare has sat siloed from tech for years, but AI is now moving fast enough to change that. Dr. Jadé Olayinka, @thedrjade double board certified dermatologist — built an app that streamlines Accutane prescriptions, replacing a slow, outdated process her patients have to sit through. AJ, Ore, Greta & I also had the privilege of judging the pitch competition: 🥇 Christopher Martinez built OCAAI on Base44 with Tavily voice agents, tracking Cyclospora outbreaks. 🥈 Genny Mack @gennymack__ and David Lin built Meal Compass for personalized meal planning across low-inflammatory diets.
