what a day at the @appalachianliteraryartsfest ! I didn’t take nearly enough pictures but it was hard not to get immersed and distracted by all the beautiful words and powerful people. i even ran into my neighbor, fabulous photographer Ann Olson. if you don’t know her work look it up! organizers did a fabulous job and I was tickled to be back out in the literary world. it’s been awhile.

Excited to head to Kentucky next weekend for the @appalachianliteraryartsfest. Can’t wait to join writers and friends at the Author Fair on Sunday. If you’re near Morehead, KY, stop by! (And grab some chocolate stones with a copy of The Stone Catchers)

It’s now less than a week until we kick off the inaugural Appalachian Literary Arts Festival in Morehead, KY. I am beyond excited it’s almost here!

Helping plan this festival has been one of my biggest dreams and greatest honors. I hope to see y’all there to celebrate our rich literary arts culture in this region and beyond.

Our community has so many amazing things to check out all weekend. There will be something fun tucked in every corner for writers, readers, and folks who are just curious—we hope you’ll all join us!

Thursday 7/23 on Hoot and Holler (wesufm.org, 88.1 FM, 4PM) I talk to Lori Rader-Day about her novel Wreck Your Heart (it's about a country singer in Chicago), and to Wes Blake about his novella Pineville Trace which is about a place and a state of mind.
