I HAVE to tell you this #ThirstyThursday about @talnyc32, a new tasty spot located on the third floor in #Ktown that opened just last week. It's referred to as a JooJum #주점, which literally translates to tavern, but the GM explained it's a place for tasty food to enjoy with your drinks. I would call it a gastropub!

Classic shareable Korean dishes are well executed with a heavier hand on spicy plates🔥. Order ala carte, or choose a discounted composed set with 3 dishes and an alcohol pairing. Everything was super solid and delicious, in a very chic hidden space above bustling Ktown, walls adorned with traditional Korean masks (the meaning of TAL). It's owned by the same team behind Space Billiards and Karaoke, so you know they know how to have fun. 😉

* favorite dish! Bossam #보쌈 braised pork belly, aged soy sauce, radish kimchi, salted shrimp and pickled perilla leaf
* another closeup
* bossam with salted shrimp
* video montage! Meal set with seafood scallion pancake, seafood salad and acorn jelly came with a beopju #경주법주 sake-like drink from Gyeongju. Other dishes!
* fiery tteokbokki rice cakes #떡볶이 in an apple gochujang sauce, fish cakes, crispy fried noodle rolls wrapped in seaweed
* very impressed with their blended frothy cold Korean sweet potato makgeolli #막걸리 rice wine
* seafood scallion pancake #해물파전
* acorn jelly #묵
* spicy raw seafood salad with cooked shrimp, hamachi, salmon, tobiko, gochujang and apple vinegar sauce
* meal set!
* pajeon dip
* oden #오뎅 fish cake casserole with tons of different fish cakes, anchovy broth, veggies and mushroom
* the chic interior with traditional Korean touches, Korean paintings and masks, and manager Taewoo entertaining us with his display lights

@sinsanyc // an intimate Korean American wine bar in the East Village neighborhood is now open!

So excited for our good friend, @y_jaywon and @richiejang of @ricethief.nyc on this venture! So proud of the entire team who worked so hard leading up to this moment.

Noodles! Great yummy BIBIM GUKSU - a classic Korean knife cut noodle, with lots of veggies, ground pork, Ssamjang & Soy Egg. At great new @sinsanyc, a wine bar with serious food, it's a big, hearty, yummy dish that shows up elegant, ready to be stirred & devoured.

They're still building the menu, but it's all great so far:
- DONKATSU AU POIVRE - Pork Cutlet, Dwenjang Pepper Sauce, Cucumber Salad
- GIM RISOTTO - Seaweed, Beech Mushrooms, Maitake
- THE BOAT - Romaine, Candied Anchovies, Shishito Caesar
- HWE CRUDO - Fluke, Chogochujang Dashi, Korean Pear

It's no surprise that Sinsa is great, given the roots of the team: @chefwilliamlee & @y_jaywon were at Oiji Mi; @richiejang created Rice Thief. Here, in a cozy East Village space, they've built a menu for drinking and pairing, featuring Korean comfort food, upgraded ingredients, some stretches toward Europe. Terrific! Plus the vibe: the wine bar feel we love. Wow - we loved several wine bars in Seoul last month with similar mission - so we're thrilled to find one right here in the neighborhood! Watch this place: we suspect we'll be back often!

SINSA is located in the heart of the East Village in New York City, and is the sister restaurant to Rice Thief in LIC which honors traditional meals our mothers once prepared. At SINSA, we continue this tradition by crafting a culinary experience that combines flavors from our childhood with the diverse influences of American culture through Anju — a Korean tradition of sharing small & big plates and drinks with good company.
