NEXT WEEK ON QUEERFM 🎙️ we sit down for a chat about a much cherished two-spirit Cree artist (and former QUEERFM guest) who is being remembered with a retrospective of his work…

JORDAN KING (she/her) is a Canadian multi-disciplinary artist, curator and writer. Her practice is rooted in performance, archival research and intergenerational dialogue. Jordan’s formative years were spent immersed in nightlife culture, which continues to influence her work and research.

Recent curatorial projects have included a performance series at FADO Performance Art Centre in Toronto, and a 2023 exhibition of archival photo and video material at The ArQuives, Canada’s 2SLGBTQ+ archive. Jordan’s writing has been included in PUBLIC Journal and the peer reviewed journal Architecture, Media, Politics, Society, with her photo and video work exhibited at Gallery 44 and United Contemporary, both in Toronto. In 2025 she released an artist book and zine project titled Seen Through Red, about her involvement in Vancouver nightlife in the early 2000s.

Jordan is the Curator of “A View From Above: Remembering Preston Buffalo”, a solo retrospective exhibition celebrating the life and work of Two-Spirit Cree Artist Preston Buffalo. Preston Buffalo lived and worked in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, excelling in a number of arts practices, including photography, print work, sculpture, digital art, and augmented reality. A View From Above is the first retrospective of the artist since his sudden passing in 2024, opening
Thursday, October 15 and running Tuesday to Saturday, noon–6pm, until December 11, 2026 at SUM Gallery.

To learn more about Jordan, visit their Insta page at @jordankingarchive or visit the SUM Gallery @queerarts and to see Preston’s work, visit his page @prestonbuffalo

Join Hosts @djdenise35 Fraser and Barb @megamouthmedia Snelgrove on Sept. 29th (repeat broadcast Oct. 2nd) at 8am PST • 11am EST and 4pm GMT, bringing weekly queer culture, news and music into the earholes of the world! 🏳️‍🌈🎙️🏳️‍⚧️

Five Minutes With: Moccasin Gaze Band Zoon

Zoon is the musical project of Daniel Monkman, an Indigenous artist, musician, actor, and multidisciplinary creator from Winnipeg and a member of the Brokenhead Ojibway Nation. Widely recognized as the creator of the self-described genre moccasin gaze, Zoon merges shoegaze, dream pop, ambient textures, and experimental sound with Indigenous storytelling to create music that is immersive, intimate, and deeply affecting.

Rooted in themes of identity, grief, healing, and cultural resurgence, Zoon’s work explores the intergenerational impacts of colonial violence while reclaiming space for Indigenous voices in alternative music. Through swirling guitars, layered soundscapes, and vulnerable songwriting, Monkman transforms memory and lived experience into expansive sonic landscapes.
