Wow. Seeing @laraaji_official on @jimmyfallon w/ @bigthiefmusic was incredible. I’ve had some amazing tours with laraaji, recording sessions with half of @sonicyouth_official and James from @therealylt , our first session together, right after getting back from Japan. while there I bought this big orange suite and the whole time laraaji kept asking if he could buy it, it was so funny. We’ve also made albums together that will be out in the universe sometime. Also our improvised show at @thewecc was amazing. taken in Luxton by @zoongideewin

Big miigwech to everyone who listened to my weird art moccasingaze record. I’m still puzzled “Bekka” an album I made in my bedroom in 2019 got nominated for a @thejunoawards but it’s giving me hopes that weirdo music can still break through. No big time budget, no major labels or “connections” just a drive to make good and long lasting art. I hope that other indigenous artists listen to my album and get inspired to keep making strange art. Special miigs to all the artist who contributed to this album @leeranaldo ( @sonicyouth_official ) , Andrew McLeod ( @sunnsetter ) Owen pallett ( @hepostsclouds ) Michael Peter Olsen ( @post.cello ) connory Ballantyne ( @connorytheballantyne ) the flame orchestra Scott willett ( @skittypopes ) Danny hacking ( @danofgreengables ) Elizabeth Burt ( @lizzyteyems ) Daniel Wintermans ( @w1nt3rm4n ) Mark lawson ( @mixmonstermark ) Photo: @vanessaheins Bekka Ma’iingan out now via @paperbagrecords @the_orchard_ & @fontananorth Many congratulations to all the other nominees in all categories✨ exciting times to be alive. I give many thanks to sobriety and my community. Baamaapii! And potentially see everyone again in Halifax. • • • • • • • • • • • #junos #awards #indigenous #moccasingaze #dreampop #ojibway #experimental #la #toronto #sonicyouth #90s taken in CBC/Radio-Canada by @zoongideewin

Feedback that sounds like crickets from my old headphones. Discovered the sound by accident while just walking by last night. Then I started to do all this movement with it because it was so sensitive but certain movements gave it this insect like sound. I’m sure I could have sat there for hours and figured out the perfect sound but it low key was hurting my head haha. #feedback #headphones #sound #bug #frequency taken in Turtle Island by @zoongideewin

Hey everyone, with the recent announcement about ice and them revving up their tactics with targeting anyone who might seem to be undocumented I have decided to drop out of the drag talk tour. I was very excited and had planned and bought everything for my trip. Then ppl sent me clips about ICE and their new stats & it got me extremely nervous about being brown and travelling the states alone. I’ve been detained twice and both times the police were very aggressive with me. One time I showed them my passport and they didn’t believe it was real until I pulled out my treaty card then they calmed down but the second time they tried new tactics and held me for hours, insulting me bc my cousin (chief and council) wasn’t picking up, mind you it was 1am. “Is someone actually going to pick up, or were you lying ?? Huh!” I’m grateful my cousin picked up but I was still held so I talked to a lawyer and while in the room two police left the door a little bit open and tried to listen in on my call. I was told to slam the door so the audio would be picked up by all the cameras, bc they had broken the law, ironically. After that they treated me like I was the queen of England. Royalty. Then said it twice “we’re letting you go so please don’t talk to your chief” Last time I posted about this I was shadow banned and I went from 500-1000 likes to just a couple, so I know they’re watching. But again please go to these shows and support all the amazing local bands and drag talk. _Zoon\ • • • • • • • • • • • #ice #police #racism #art #socialmedia taken in United States of America by @zoongideewin

my cousins addiction has always been on my mind lately so I started to write a bunch of piano songs about our relationship throughout the years and how many years it’s been and wonder where she’s at and if she’s safe. #addiction #piano #indigenous #canada #art her last message was ‘make time for me’ 🌀❤️ taken in Winnipeg, Manitoba by @zoongideewin
