I used to pack resistance bands for VACATION. That’s how serious my gym girl era was. 😭😂

If you knew me before kids, you KNOW. I was counting macros, training clients, and even lifting through pregnancy.

Then came two babies in two years… and somewhere along the way, my fitness routine took a backseat.

I love being their mama, but I miss that part of me. 🥹

So here I am, finding my way back to strength training and figuring out what postpartum fitness looks like in this season of life.

And I’m officially on a mission to lose 35 pounds by my 35th birthday👀💪🏽 #35by35

Two babies, countless flights, road trips, walks, playdates + everyday errands later… our Doona has easily been one of our most-used baby products. 🥹✈️

From family travel with a baby to everyday mom life, I love anything that makes getting out of the house with little ones easier. And the fact that we got to use the same Doona car seat + stroller with BOTH of our babies? Definitely worth it. 🙌🏾

Now my first Doona baby is pushing his little brother in it and I cannot 😭🤎

National Midwifery Week feels personal when midwives have delivered both of your babies. 🤎

What I’ve always loved about midwifery care is how personal it is. You build a relationship, you’re educated along the way, your questions are welcomed, and you’re actually part of the decisions being made about your body and your baby.

When my second baby went past 40 weeks… then 41… I started second-guessing everything I had felt confident about — even after having a home birth just the year before. The internet had me SCARED. 😭

Carly never dismissed those fears or simply told me everything would be fine. She helped me understand what we were watching for medically, monitored us more closely and helped me feel confident making informed decisions about my care without pressure.

I’m especially grateful to have had that experience with a Black midwife because representation in maternal care matters.

And some of what I appreciate most about Carly had nothing to do with a Doppler, an appointment or the actual birth. She showed me patience, flexibility and grace during a season when I really needed it.

Somewhere along the way, our midwife became family. 🤎

Happy National Midwifery Week, Carly. Thank you for caring for me and helping us bring our baby boy earthside.

Traveling with a baby has made me even more excited to raise well-traveled kids✈️🌎

I really want them to grow up curious about the world, comfortable in new places, and exposed to different cultures and ways of life💙🩵
