Join us on Tuesday, October 13 at 12 pm as Oscar Rangel presents Lignum et Umbra - La Madera y la Sombra, a solo classical guitar recital exploring the instrument’s darker, atmospheric side. Blending classical repertoire, original music, and cinematic soundscapes, the program moves through memory, folklore, shadow, and quiet intensity.

Rangel is a Mexican-Canadian guitarist and composer whose work bridges classical tradition, contemporary storytelling, and evocative sound design. Olivia LaPointe is an accomplished soprano and music educator whose work spans opera, musical theatre, jazz, and contemporary music. She has performed across Canada and internationally, and maintains a thriving voice studio. Olivia is passionate about helping singers of all ages develop their confidence, musicianship, and love of music. She also performs with her family’s vocal group, The LaPointes. Olivia is delighted to be the Choir School Director & Seraphic Voices Instructor at TEMC, where she also serves as Worship Arts Assistant and Soprano Lead. She holds a Master of Music in Opera and Voice from McGill University and a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Toronto.

Janet Stephenson is a retired school teacher who has always loved music. She was a member of the TEMC Choir School from 1978-1985 and a Choir School parent from 2004-2012. She is delighted to be part of the community in the role of Choir School Coordinator. Janet also loves food, travel and being outdoors.

David Michael Moote has been a tenor lead at TEMC for over a decade now. He has a BMus in Vocal Performance from McGill University and a B.Ed from uOttawa. He grew up singing in choirs and doing musicals and has never stopped. He very much looks forward to joining the team this year!

Dr. Mai Miyagaki is a Toronto-based musician whose work spans performance, research, and teaching students from preschool to university and adult levels. She has performed internationally and served as a collaborative pianist at Oberlin Conservatory, McGill University, University of Toronto Faculty of Music, and the Glenn Gould School of Music. She holds a Doctor of Music from McGill University, where her FRQSC-funded research explored issues of race and gender in collaborative piano. She is currently taken in Timothy Eaton Memorial Church by @temc.music

Powerful, beautiful worshipful music provided by members of Summer Songbirds and Rock of All Ages on this beautiful Sunday of Labour Day weekend.

Led by our wonderful instructors Zoë Gotziaman, Edmee Nataprawira, Enos Choy, and Stephen Boda, the two welcoming musical programs provide a fun and supportive environment for amateur musicians to explore and enjoy music, whether they are just getting started or have been making music for years.
